Arsenal sent scouts to Portugal over the weekend as they consider making a summer move for Benfica’s Alex Grimaldo. The 23-year-old spent time with Valencia and Barcelona as a youth player, having made 92 appearances for Barcelona B, before joining Benfica in December 2015 for just 1.5million euros.
Grimaldo was restricted to just two appearances during his maiden campaign but he has become a more integral figure over the last few seasons.

Indeed, he is currently enjoying his best term as a professional and boasts six goals and five assists across all competitions.
Unsurprisingly, his performances have led to interest from across Europe with Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan, Napoli and Manchester City understood to be keen.
Arsenal are the latest side to be linked with his services and reports claim they had scouts in Portugal to watch him in action as Benfica beat Nacional 10-0 over the weekend.
