Joe Aribo was in action for struggling Southampton who lost 1-0 away to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.

Jhon Duran’s 24th minute strike was enough to secure Villa the three points.

Aribo has been excommunicated from the Super Eagles since the 2024 Afcon where his performance was deemed underwhelming.
Indeed, many Super Eagles fans have been frustrated with Joe Aribo in Super Eagles colours for the last 2 seasons. The perception is that he displays zero creativity with restricted movements and poor passes with non-existent goal threat.
However, with 14 out of 15 games to his belt in the English Premier League this season with 2 goals to boot, is it not time to forgive and forget Aribo and give him another chance?
Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who can now do no wrong in the eyes of Super Eagles fans, has only managed 6 league games in 15 for Lazio with only 1 goal.
On merit, there is argument that Joe Aribo deserves invitation ahead of Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
However, Fisayo has been dynamite for the Super Eagles every time he dons the jersey despite his struggles for game time in club football.
That said, Aribo’s international experience, versatility and midfield expertise boosted by regular game-time in the best league in the world is not to be sniffed at.
More so as we are prepared to extend invitation to Alhassan Yusuf, a midfielder based in America who has actually struggled recently for the Super Eagles.
Aribo definitely deserves a look-in
