Samuel Chukwueze’s mentor, Victor Apugo, has revealed that Villarreal are in no way bothered by the teenage star’s recent goal drought, but are rather impressed with the progress he has made so far at the Spanish side.
Chukwueze has caught the eye at Villarreal since he broke out last season. He finished his debut season in the top flight with eight goals in all competitions and has been the subject of transfer speculations from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

The 20-year-old began this league season on a bright note, scoring four times in all competitions, but his last La Liga goal for the Yellow Submarines came in their 3-1 loss to Celta Vigo last November, while he’s yet to start for Villarreal in their last five games in the league.
Reacting to this, Apugo who is the President of Super Stars Football Academy and part of Chukwueze’s management team, allayed any fears about the forward’s form and revealed Villarreal are keen to secure his long term future amid interests from a host of top clubs.
He said: “We’re in constant communication with Villarreal and they’re very very happy with Sammy (Chukwueze). Both the coach and the club’s management believe in him, they recognise that he’s one of the most talented young players in the world at the moment and they’re pleased with his development.
“Goal drought is normal when it comes to forward players, even the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo still experience that. Sammy (Chukwueze) is top player and hard-worker, he’s very focused and committed. He’ll soon start banging in the goals again.”
The Super Eagles star has scored three goals in the Spanish La Liga this season in 25 appearances, providing three assists.
He was in action for Villareal in their 1-0 away defeat to Atletic Bilbao on Sunday.
