Authentic Nigeria Football Supporters Club (ANFSC) is planning to make strong presence in Brazil in October to support the Golden Eaglets in their quest to win the FIFA U-17 World Cup for the sixth time for Nigeria, Completesports.com reports.
According to Abayomi Ogunjimi, President of ANFSC: “The Authentic Nigeria Football Supporters Club will be going all out in Brazil to cheer the team up and we will be doing that in large numbers.”
Ogunjimi believes that the Nigerian Under-17 team can achieve something great at the tournament which will will hold from 26 October until 17 November.
“I believe the Nigerian Under-17 team will spring up a huge surprise, I believe that they are really doing well, and as far as they have already reached the World Cup, they will perform wonders,” Ogunjimi told Completesports.com.
“And just as we supported the Super Eagles in large numbers at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt, expect us to also do it well again in Brazil as we have been to that country before.
“We were in Brazil with the Super Eagles at the FIFA senior World Cup back in 2014. We know how the country is as we are familiar with that terrain and we will make a huge difference.”
The Golden Eaglets have continued preparation for the U-17 World Cup. Manu Garba and his boys are presently in Turkey participating in the UEFA/CAF U17 International Tournament. They defeated the host nation Turkey 2-0 in their opening game on Sunday.
Nigeria have won the FIFA Under-17 World Cup on five occasions and will be gunning for title number 6 in this year’s edition.
The Golden Eaglets are in Group B and will take on Hungary on October 26, Ecuador on October 29 and Australia on November 1.
