Former Super Eagles winger Emmanuel Amuneke visited the team’s camp in Garoua on Monday, reports Completesports.com.
The 1994 AFCON winner was in buoyant mood as he engaged in talks with head coach Austine Eguaveon, goalkeeper trainer Alloy Agu and other members of the technical crew.
The former Barcelona player also watched the team’s training session in the evening.
Amuneke is in Cameroon as a member of the CAF Technical Study Group (TSG).
The Super Eagles will begin their campaign at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon against seven-time champions Egypt Tuesday (today) at the Stade Roumde Adija, Garoua.

Good one! We need some of our ex to really be checking on these guys. You know one or two pep talk just as a form of ginger. Not all these corrupt politicians.
It wasn’t a fight though, Ndidi did the recording and he was laughing.
But looks like an aggressive person lol. I hope he translates that aggression on the pitch
A touch line winger, remember him back in the day, he was a delight to watch. I hope he keeps to the CAF job because coaching a senior national side doesn’t look like his calling based on his past extremely poor performance.
@Friday Ikolo, how many national team Gold medal has Eguavoen won as a Coach in his entire career?…. No dey yan trash about Amuneke who is one of our world Gold medal winner Coach (U17 2015). And did great with Tanzania national football team.
Amunike, Garba, Egbo, etc are better achievers as Coaches than Eguavoen. Take it or leave it.
The records are there for surfing.
Good luck SE
Nig. 3 vs Egypt 1
Ehnn?? LMFAO!
What is he doing there? That guy couldn’t win a single match in the last Afcon when he was coached to the Taifa Stars of Tanzania. I wonder what advice he has.
Error; when he was ‘coach’
Keep quiet@Monday. Emmanuel Amuneke is a Legend, both as a player and Coach.
Amunike stood alongside George Weah, Daniel Amokachi, Nwankwo Kanu, and Rashidi Yakini as the finest African players on the planet.
As a coach, Amunike led Nigeria’s under-17 team to the FIFA World Cup title in Chile in 2015 and then led the Tanzanian national team to the finals of the 2019 African Nations Championship, which was held in Egypt for the second time in Tanzania’s history.
Coach Amuneke, thanks for the visit and technical support to Coach Eguavoen & the SE.
You haven’t even responded to my comment. Did Amunike won any match in the 2019 Afcon as a COACH? Use your Google search. By the way, must you be sounding abusive?
@Monday,
If well checked people like you are even monument of failure in their immediate family with nothing to show to their neighbourhood.
You are here talking about Amuneke. What have you achieved for Nigeria idiot.
Oh really? So he went to visit our own coach of the SE. That is a clear display of respect. I wish the Super Eagles coach and his team good luck.
He went to pay homage to his boss to be. Eguavoen started winning medals in Afcon way back 2006. Should he be made substantive SE coach, he would need to appoint people like Amunike to oversee out under17 or under20.
Amuneke’s visit is a very good one indeed bicos we shouldn’t not forget in a hurry that he coached Kelechi Iheanacho, nwakali, Osimhen and few others that are currently playing for the Super Eagles. So his visit to Eguavoen is highly welcomed. Also those who critise his presence at the eagle’s camp are all bullshit.
#Tiray, don’t be arrogant. Eguavoen haven’t played or won his first match vs Egypt and you are talking trash.
Amunike is a very fine and quality Coach likewise, Egbo, Finidi, Siasia,M.Garba, et al., Eguavoen is just a fellow Coach and former intertional as Amunike.
@ Nosa, ah ah, no nah, I never said Amunike is not fine. I said our interim head coach won bronze way back 2006. That alone makes him the boss to any Nigerian would be coach mostly those that haven’t attain such height, Amunike inclusive. That isn’t too much.
@Tiray, are you not ashamed to mention bronze???
Stephen Keshi of blessed memory, won AFCON Gold in 2013. And didn’t make noise about it.
Bronze is inconsequential in the committee of great footballing nations.
We are just managing Eguavoan because he is not fans favourite indigenous coach.
Amunike, Manu Garba, Egbo, etc.. Are better options. You can take it to the bank.
For your information, Coach Emmanuel Amuneke discovered and groomed;
Victor Osimhen (Napoli, Italy)
Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal, Spain)
Kelechi Nwakali (SD Huesca, Spain)
I can tell you those players are among the mainstay of SE today.
@Tiray, who among the SE players of today did Eguavoan discover???
Finally, great coaches discover talents, groom them and harness them for Gold medals.
The discussion has never been who discovered who and besides, the Super Eagles interim Head Coach, Eguavoen never started with U20, meaning graduants from the lowly team where Amunike held sway””
And to even win a bronze in Afcon, a coach would have won some matches, your ‘own’ Amuneke couldn’t win a single match when he tried recently I’m 2019. Or is it a lie?
Correction….Never started with U17 but rather U20
@Monday.please try to appreciate someone’s effort. Amuneke qualified Tanzania for the first time in twenty seven or more and you said he knows nothing about coaching. My brother I as a person didn’t expect such down grading comment from you. Of a truth Tanzania didn’t win any match in the afcon but do you think all the teams that qualified were push over? For more than 25yrs Tanzania has not qualify for afcon and you were expecting Amuneke to perform magic? Okay! Are you aware that the same Tanzania didn’t qualify for this year 2022 afcon? Tanzania were no team before Amuneke took over. He was trying to start a fresh building and they sacked him and now even the foundation he laid had been destroyed because of incompetence of the person who took over from Amuneke the general. @ Monday my dear brother and friend and a fellow football fan please and please I will advise you apologize to Amuneke here on this forum. Thanks a God bless all of us. I wish SE the best of luck today.
@Elijah Samson, stop being sentimental. Fact, where Amunike is good, I will say it. He has no good CV in terms of coaching a senior national side and the record is there. If the press had reported that Amunike was visiting an under17 camp, I will be among the first persons to jump at it, not the senior team, we must face facts. Or is he going to share with the Super Eagles players how he tactically lost all the matches at the last Afcon?
Good luck SE.
Stop all the disrespect to a great Nigerian legend, he was outstanding as a player and a coach, in fact after his retirement due to injury we lost our left wing nigeria always produce good left wingers in d past I can name some, Felix owolabi, Humphrey edobo, Friday elaho, adokie amunike..
Amuneke is a legend visiting and offering support. It’s always nice to see guys who played or coached keeping the brotherhood going. There is excitement with SE because we are playing attacking, exciting football and banding together as one nation.
