Former Nigeria international Emmanuel Amuneke has said if given the opportunity to coach the Super Eagles he would not turn it down.
Amuneke made this known in an interview on News Central.
The former Barcelona forward’s only coaching experience with the Eagles was as an assistant.
In 2018, he was appointed as the coach of the Tanzania national football team and qualified them for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.

And Amuneke, who is currently consultant to the coaching crew of Zambian club Zanaco, said he it would be a welcome development for him if given the opportunity to handle the three-time AFCON winners.
“I’ve never coached the Super Eagles, I’ve only gone twice to assist someone but coaching Super Eagles on my own I have not.
“But of course Nigeria is my country and the national team we are all part of it and when the opportunity comes and Nigerians feel that we can add something to the national team of course it’s a welcome development.”
In 2015 Amuneke guided the Golden Eaglets to win the U-17 World Cup in Chile.
Serie A top scorer Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali were part of Amuneke’s 2015 World Cup winning squad.

I think Amunike will be a good coach if given the chance…….But he needs all the help he can get……He needs freedom to select the best for each position……he needs financial support interms of his salaries and allowances being paid promptly…….He needs good pitches to play his brand of football which is the tiki taka…….He will do well because some of the current national team players where once under his tutolage……Ndidi Iheanacho Awoniyi Moffi Osimhen Chukwueze Nwakali Uzoho and co know Amunike very well.
Nonsense he is no different from the rest
You are so right.
What do you know in football Josiah..
Amunike is the coach I’d been advocating for as he has the track record at senior level with Tanzania and junior level with the under 17 team. Additionally he has also worked at club level. Moreover he has the top European club experience with Barcelona.
However he needs to explain what happened at the under 21 level using mainly that fantastic under 17 team a year or two afterwards. There were murmurs heard. In addition, Cerezo Eguaveon needs to inform us what happened during the 2nd leg against Ghana in Abuja. It was stated that the starting team was changed at the last minute, and that the announcement was not made by either of the top two coaches.
So, we need to sort out the challenges in Nigerian football administration and select a good local coach. Let him determine his coaching crew and not force personnel on him.
Siasia, such a renowned coach is there and u went and hire this SITE PLANNER lol
Is shocking how Africans truly thinks tho
Give the job to SAMSON SIASIA, support him and he ll rectify all the mistakes!
As a Ghanaian, the only NIGERIAN coach I fear is SAMSON SIASIAb
The reason FIFA silence him.
That wat oyinbo people can do to put black man down. U can imagine a black country wining gold silver in world cup .u think dey want it . Far far foul.
Til today I still can get or reason out his offense. And even if he committed such … How come nobody FIFA didn’t check on his positive to a nation that suffering.after the contribution of westerhorf bonferee the last man standing is Siasia.
All this once in u 23 u 20 nff are using are jokers.in any competition dey can’t go far .
You just hit the nail on the head…my brother. And Nigeria is helping to destroy their best…siasia and Amunike would make a great combination of a coach for our national team plus Finidi.
@selfmade King,
You have just said it the way it should be. But you know our country naa, even when coach Samson Siasia’s ban elapses, they won’t give him the job, because they cannot control him. Non of them at the NFF can control him, that’s why he fell out with Pinnick.
For once self made king, you made a good comment. I never thought something good could come out of you. I hope the football administrators in Nigeria are listening to you. Siasia is way better than this site engineer called pesiaro
A prophet isn’t respected in his own country and sometimes I don’t understand why Nigerians has neglected Siasia tho!
He is a great coach, was a great player and he perfectly understands NIGERIAN footballing mentality!
Do u think that Ghana qualified in Abuja if Siasia was the eagles coach? No
He is a great coach and he has a perfect T understanding of the modern game!
How can u give rohr five years to build a team but can’t give Siasia the same period to build a team for Nigeria?
If Nigerians will give Siasia a chance, give him all the resources and support him, he is the one that ll take Nigeria to the promise land!
U have no idea how Ghanaians dread SIASISA whenever we meet him as a coach!
Go back and check how Ghana was finding it difficult to beat Nigeria when siasisa was the NIGERIAN coach!
Damn Africans, we can’t think for shit!
Isn’t shocking that siasisa doesn’t coach any team in Nigeria all these years?
Whether Nigerians like it or not, Siasia is the best coach to ever come out of Nigeria!
How they hire this SITE PLANNER AKA PESEIRO whiles siasisa is there shows that Nigerians aren’t serious for shit
#BringBackGeneralRoah and make either AMUNIKE or SIASIA HIS ASSISTANT…
Slave mentality.
What stop Emuneke from becoming the coach of SE.
WE don’t need a NIGERIAN COACH..
They are very CORRUPT and can EASILY be CONTROLLED…
WE need STUBBORN and very STRICT COACH like GENERAL ROAH and ANTONIO CONTE…
Thunder fire you. Colo. mentality never tire you? I beg bring on Amunike and if Sia sia has finished serving his ban bring him on . These two guys are far better than these white opportunist Pinnick died to hire.
LMFAO!
How THUNDER go FIRE me wey e never complete em assignment of FIRING una for contributing in the SACK of a GOOD MAN like GENERAL ROAH…
NFF should give Amuneke this job.
The coach of Guinea-Bissau that beat us over the weekend is a local coach.
If WE can’t #BringBackGeneralRoah let’s go for ANTONIO CONTE….
The MAN is very FREE now!!
The job should go to siasia or the south african white coach stuat baxter, that man is a verry good coach, you can see how southafrica perfomed in the 2019 afcon i think they were the best team in that turnament only lack qualities of players if given the eagles job that man will conquer africa, we should also look towards the northafrican coaches and even our ghana have good coaches we can also select from, the search must not be in Nigeria alone, lets put ego aside there are many good coaches in africa that can do verry well with the giant of africa, and if we must hire a coach from europe it should be conte like the other guy suggested if not no need
This Amunike should stop acting like a beggar. He had yhe opportunity to help the team but chose to be a disgruntled and divisive element in the team.
If we decide to go for a Nigerian, Oliseh or Egbo is a better option.
Sunday Oliseh is my man for the job! But after he has undergone therapy to control his emotions. However, I like Amuneke’s boldness in asking to do the job.
At least he is better than the Oyibo that is there now.
@monkey post you get mental problem
Any FA that appoints Amuneke clearly doesn’t have Vision. What has amuneke achieve that qualifies him for the post of super eagles. just because he won u17 World Cup . African are quick to advertise their potential by mouth rather allow your antecedents do the job for you. in Europe an u17 coach will not fly from his position to take the job of senior national team. Amuneke should still be in u17,u20 to produce players for national team . let him take charge of u23
Siasia and Keshi remain the best Nigerian coaches ever. Their brand of football, quick transition from defence to attack, the press and robust style of play are really suitable for Nigerian footballers and the best response to what most Afican teams present. Siasia would have easily won the 2005 WYC and 2008 Olympics if not for Messi.
I was highly impressed by what Keshi did in Togo and Nigeria in 2006 and 2013 respectively. I had always dreamt of both guys working at the senior level before death took Keshi away from us. Apart from these guys, others are just noise makers.
I would love to see Amuneke to handle the national team too. His style and tactics were highly commended by FIFA at 2015 u17 WC. He seems to have a definite style of play and looks like someone who jump into league of the aforementioned coaches. Let’s not also forget how he helped Tanzania secure an AFCON ticket in 2019 afyer many years of absence. These are no mere coincidence. They were well deserved. He also knows how set up a team with variety of options with what I’ve seen him do in Tanzania and Nigeria u17.
I think Emmanuel Amuneki can do better than Pesiero, cause he has Nigeria football mentality, he has Spanish mentality cause he has played at Barcelona in 1997-2000, he has experience with Super Eagles under 17 which have won under 17 World Cup, he has been frist assistant coach; he also has been SE assitant coach of Eguavoen in AFCON. Cup in Cameroon 2021; Amuneki can take care of old SE defensive style of play which old generation have been playing with in 94 and 96.
