Legendary Nigerian forward Daniel Amokachi has expressed confidence the Super Eagles will come back with the three points against Sierra Leone in Freetown on Tuesday.
The Eagles squandered a four-goal lead to draw 4-4 against the Leone Stars in Friday’s Group L 2021 AFCON qualifier in Benin City.
Despite the draw, the Eagles still top the group on seven points while Sierra Leone are third on two points.

However, Amokachi is confident the Eagles will overcome the setback and secure all three points.
“Are we beating Sierra Leone, 100 per cent, by the special grace of God,” the 1994 AFCON winner said in his programme ‘Bull’s Pit’ on Brila FM on Monday.
“Are we coming back with the three points, we are coming back with the three points.
“I know being a Nigerian, I am a Nigerian, my blood is Nigerian, my blood is green white green. If we go to Sierra Leone and don’t come back with the three points then those players are not Nigerians. Because as a Nigerian you know how it is when there are pressure, when there are stakes that’s when we shine.
“I’ve been on the field, I’ve been on the bench and seen panic and we still go away and come back with the three points because that’s what we are, that’s how God made us to be.
“So, are they coming back with the three points I don’t have a doubt that we would come back with the three points. It’s only when the technical bench doesn’t do what they need to do.
“But with the quality and calibre, the state of mind of the players, we should come back with the three points.”
Also in the group Benin Republic edged Lesotho 1-0 on Saturday to record their second win and go second on six points.

Even though we win I am still not impressed with this coach leading us because he is not up there at all. We have seen him fail to any tactically sound coach. We need a sound coach. Take a look at Algiers and Senegal. Naija we need help from God because nothing seems working in our dear country.
To be honest the last time super eagles were convincing was during the 2018 world cup qualifiers. They were not too convincing during the nation’s cup not because we don’t have the players but some technical input is lacking. We seem to always take our foot of the pedal in certain matches here
Nigeria vs Ukraine 2-2 (Ukraine scored 2 goals in 2 to 3 minutes to equalize)
Nigeria vs Argentina (few minutes to the end lock the game and stack the back. Ended up conceding a goal from the Argentineright back Rondo)
Nigeria vs Algeria (seconds to go we allowed the Algerians a free kick in a dangerous area where Mahrez is skilled)
Nigeria vs Tunisia last friendly ( let the Tunisians back in the game somehow)
Nigeria vs Madagascar ( Apart from Balogun’s error there was no tactical reply. They could’ve even scored a third)
Baba the thing weak me o. What pains me is after he wins the second we will think all is well or we are back. Then when we meet correct teams with better coach and organisation na that time we go hear am. But all we can do now is to keep praying Baba.
Rohr must go. No Oliseh. Everybody join me to say “Rohr must go and No Oliseh.”
Don’t worry your eyes will soon clear. They were convincing during the world cup qualifier cos your father was the coach then abi? Very terrible people only thing they know is to run others down.
And you think you have sense too? Damn!!
First of I have enough respect no to reciprocate your insult because the fact that u can be so insulting by saying “your father” shows the type of parents that brought u up. You lack any kind of sense. I expressed my opinion and that’s that you can’t change it. Bastard!
@Edoman….
When ROHR goes what have u archieved???
Will that make SE to win world cup???
Will that make SE not to be an average team with 100% average players???
When Rohr was not the coach of the team, we’ve been going for world cup how many times have we reached the quater finals???
Even when afcon use to be an 8 nation tournament, when the likes of GHANA, CAMEROUN, EGYPT won 4 each, how many did we win???
It progress to 16 how many did we win???
I said it b4 that our elders normally says that “WHEN THE BUSH IS ON FIRE, A STUPID MONKEY LAUGHS”….
Don’t laugh at a man’s downfall bcos u don’t know what lies ahead….. Your today may be good but your tomorrow may not go well….
LET THAT SINK DEEP INTO UR INTO SKULL…
You can make your point without insult. Behave well next time out
The coach is either inept, suspect or both. Maybe they have got to him as well, we know they always do in the end in this our obodo here, na condition still dey bend crayfish, anyhow, the problem Nigeria have right now is that not only is the Coach’s mindset a serious concern, but so is the current team so overall no real surprises there, how can you hope to be a successful national level team and base your hopes on guys like Kelechi and Iwobi? Or is it Simon you want to showcase? Musa with due respect was a player but even Air Nigeria is only human and age catches up with all of us, the other ones are the definition of inconsistency, This in itself shows the current state of the minds behind the team if knowing everything we know (and we’re not even football employees in any capacity) but we know that both Iheanacho and Iwobi are at most now only bit part players in their respective teams and yet they are the ones this set up from the NFF through Rohr and his team are trusting with the name and reputation of the Eagles not to mention the heartache to numerous millions or that this is yet another golden opportunity to move our country in the right direction laid to waste again, as usual abi?.
UNA MATTER DEY VERY COMPLICATED JOOR! FUNNY PEOPLE 🙂
I hope those Nigerians that want Gernot Rohr to be sacked need to apply for his job urgently to propel SE improvement. I couldnt fathom the rationale behind people Interest in running down Gernot’s inputs. Perhaps your so called local egunje coaches would be summoned to be SE gaffer. Our criticism should be well tailored and acceptable. At present no local Coach can rub shoulder with Gernot Rohr. We don’t want SE qualifcation to be through permutations. Pls don’t give us heart attack, leave Rohr alone for now
That people re calling for his sack does not necessarily mean they want a local coach as his replacement, I just want you to get that fact. Besides, sacking GR at this point in time wouldn’t be the best of decision.
I feel GR has offered all within his ability and might not surpass what he has achieved with the SE in times past and that’s why I think getting a foreign coach (Immediately after Afcon 2022 or thereabout) with much more better acumen of tactics than GR. We may not be able to afford the services of Klopp, Pep and their likes but we can get sound coaches with kinda low budgets if they re well scouted for. I believe we have local coaches that are up to the task in terms of tactics but corruption and poor man management has been their major setback. I’m a supporter of Rohr from his day 1 in office but truth must be told, Rohr has given his all, nothing else to show.
You’re right! Nice one
Some don’t even know the terms of the contract….
For Rohr to go nigeria must pay him off the 2 remaining years of his contract or they allow him fail to qualify us for the afcon and fail to win the afcon…..
Those are the hurdles now….
