Former Super Eagles captain and now Technical Adviser of Lobi Stars of Makurdi, a Nigeria Premier Football League side, Daniel Amokachi, has began his managerial reign at the club with sweeping changes, Completesports.com reports.
Amokachi’s first major change was the removal of the club’s captaincy from goalkeeper Daniel Atsaka.
Checks reveal that veteran defender, Solomon Kwambe, a member of the 2014 CHAN Eagles that won Bronze medal in South Africa, has been entrusted with the leadership of the club in the capacity of acting captain.
Kwambe, a former Sunshine Stars of Akure wingback, will be assisted by Akor Itodo, as Acting Vice Captain, “until further notice”, Amokachi said.
Amokachi stressed the importance of ‘heightened player commitment’ ahead of the Bayelsa United clash this weekend.
‘Da Bull’, as Amokachi is fondly called, reiterrated the need to avoid complacency and vowed to refine the team’s strategy to cultivate a winning mentality.
The former Everton of England ace pleaded with the ‘dedicated fans and supporters’ of the club for an ‘unwavering support’ to enable the club achieve its set objective.
Lobi Stars are last on the 20-team NPFL Standings with six points after eight round of matches.
Lobi Stars will host Bayelsa United on Monday in Lafia, Nassarawa State.
