Nigeria’s U23 coach Imama Amakpakabo is thrilled to see his lads overturn a 2-0 first leg defeat suffered away to Libya in Bengerdan, Tunisia last Wednesday in an outstanding way in the second leg clash played on Monday reports Completesports.com.
Amakpakabo who admitted his side knew practically nothing about the Libyan team ahead of their first leg- a reason for their defeat, trounced Libya 4-0 in the second leg on Monday to advance 4-2 on aggregate to the final round of the U23 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifying series.
Victor Osimhen was the standout player for Nigeria’s U23 team as he scored a hat-trick and set up the fourth goal for David Okereke as the Nigerian team kept their hopes of defending their U23 AFCON title which they won in 2016.
“We knew nothing about the Libyans in the first leg and paid for it, “Amakpakabo said during his post-match interview in Asaba.
“The players came out stronger in this game especially in the second half against a defensive team and I am proud at how they got the job done.”
“We will maintain the same spirit ahead of the next qualifiers.”
Nigeria’s U23 Eagles will face the winner of the tie between Sudan and Kenya in the final round.

Mr. Imama Amakpakabo, Congratulations coach. Job well done. However, I have a message for you coach. You need to sit tight. These players can’t be available all the time. You can’t rely on coach Rohr to give you players before you can win.
I still can’t put my trust in you because you really have to convinced me.
Keep searching for more local players and have your team ready for the remaining matches.
Hope you remembered that same thing happened to coach Eguavon or so during the Olympics qualifiers when he was leading the group but in the end, foreign base players were not released and Nigeria failed to qualify for the championship in that year. Take note of that coach.
However,For those who still believed in the technicality of coach Rohr, nothing wrong in that but in this year Afcon, we are going to see the clear picture of the coach.
With what i have seen in coach Rohr so far, tactically the coach is not there. You people should stop provoking the coach to give what he doesn’t have. It is not possible to give what you don’t have.
The only thing that keeps coach Rohr going is “good attitude”. He has a great moral but that is not enough for his role. I’m stopping here for now because Nigerians hates the truth but I have no choice, Nigeria come first.
God bless Nigeria!!!
Just like they ridiculed the team after I tipped them to challenge the Super Eagles and today majority of them are smiling home forgetting how they rained insults on their self in different languages after the team lost the first leg. There’s a particular group here who doesn’t have a stand all they do is anywhere belle face today you win you’re a God tomorrow you loose you’re not good! Come rain come sun Siaone till Jesus comes!
@Chima E Samuels, Haha Haha Haha. I’m still laughing bro. Mr. Chima E Samuels it is well. Ejeka na suuru si o lol. God bless Nigeria!!!
@Chima E Samuels
Siaone who failed to qualify the SE for the AFCON?
Achi medicine after death the team was doom before he got the rescue job just like Zidane and Real Madrid so what are talking about or is it the so called NFF maltreatment. Black man will be dissing himself SMH!
SE was doomed wen amodu got the job in 2002, so doomed that the President of Liberia FA said he would resign his job if Nigeria qualified ahead of Liberia, So doomed that George weah said he would retire from international football if Liberia fails to qualify, that there is ABSOLUTELY NO HOPE for nigeria anymore and amodu still went on to qualify for the WC, some of you said SE and G.Rohr was doomed after loosing the 1st game to SA in the AFCON qualifiers but we still went on to qualify with a game to spare…..SE only lost their 1st match in the 2012 series before Siasia took over, and we had to wait for a MUST win last match at home to qualify, yet ur siasia failed. In the 2017 series, we had 4 points from our 1st 2 games before siasia took over…..another home draw and we FAILED again to qualify for AFCON. Not to talk about his stint with 3 NPL clubs. Keep on making excuses….!!! He’s been jobless for 3 years now while his mates are leading senior teams to history making feats.
@ Chima….Just a quick question….Is libya no longer a fishermen’s team anymore…???
what do you know that is call tactics …. what is your definition for tactics , can you please explain more , a coach that play champion league final , tactically he won Iceland that defeated England , what did you want from this man again , did you forget that this team didnt qualify the last 2 edition of nation cup , when they are with local coach , …. how many yrs those it take us to build 94 team , did you think good team can be build in space of 1 or 2 yrs , ….give this man at least four yrs , you will see the result , his not tactically sound he use more that 3 system , 4 3 3 , 4 4 2 , and 3 5 2 , please tell us what is your definition of tactics
@Omo9ja,am sorry with due respect to you am beginng to see u as a spoiler, one who is standing aloof awaiting the Coach and the team to fail so you can come out to rejoice. There is absolutely nothing real and there are no lessons to learn from ur above analysis.Just as @Macdon said pls if you are such a qualified Coach tell us with definition what tactics is all about only then will I ever take you serious.Dont just sit there and expect the Coach to fail so u can cry ulabaloo. Some of us do not expect the Coach to win always,in fact I do not expect SE to win the Afcon. All I look forward to is to have a formidable team that will stand the text of time one that can compete with the rest of the world come 2022.How do u pass an insult on a coach who qualified us for two major events within 10months without having to pick up calculator as it is the usual practice, u r doing us a disservice.that tactically inefficient Coach was heading the German FA technical team before we came calling, do u know more than the German FA that picked him for that job?.He has also gone ahead to prove it so far.If your way of judging a good Coach is when he wins all the time or when he picks players of your choice then u must be a politician. The Spaniard with all their stars achieved nothing at the last world cup,the Germans like wise, yet retained their Coach.Bros pls leave Rorh alone if u r so good tactically go pick a local five aside and show ur prowess and then will I take u serious. It is easy to come out and say things cos talk is cheap go and do ur own.Tanks.
My brother…do not be shocked, there are many of them on this forum….they are just waiting for the coach to fail, or for the SE to just draw a match….not even lose. They wake up daily and their first prayer is God pls let this man fail. This funnyone that know tactics more than guadiolla called for his sack after we secure the much needed point in Jo’burg that qualified us for the AFCON with a game to spare, his reasons, because we drew (a match which should have stood as a win if not for the very terrible officiating on matchday). We won seychelles at home…the coach is incompetent…he must be sacked. Morrocco who is ahead of nigeria finsihed this qualifiers with just 11 points while we finished with 13. They struggled to 2 draws home and away against comoros islands (same category as seychelles) in their group, played a draw away to malawi in their last game….I’ve not heard Morrocans calling for the sack of their coach. One of them mistakenly confessed some days ago the reason for his hatred for G. Rohr…..”his personal player is not being invited”. And I am not suprised, bcos the way some people have been clamouring for the invitation of certain players ahead of visibly better options currently battling for shirts in the eagles, you cannot but just know that they are mere fronts and that even if the coach falls into a pool of water…they will still accuse him of raising dust.
Lost once to an african opposition, moved nigeria from 14th place in africa to 4th place, qualified for 2 major tournaments with games in hand, win ration of over 60% or so, all while building a team of average age of 23-24 without making noise of ‘rebuilding’ that our local coaches always makes as if they are Juliub berger, all within less than 3 years in charge….yet to some people, he doesnt know tactics, he doesnt know how to coach, his team cannot play 10 passes together withou loosing possesion, his team cannot score free-kicks. May they never run out of complaints while the eagles keep progressing…!
Unfortunately for them, the U17s are doing well, the U20s are not doing too badly, the U23s arent doing badly too, not to talk of the main Eagles…..so their Under something something caretaker specialist whom they are yearning for will reamin jobless for a little longer.
I don’t want to be too arrogant but Rohr,in terms of beginning, has done better than any previous super eagles coach, even the much hailed Westerhof.
This is a coach that took over when the super eagles was out,for the second time running, from the nation’s cup.i believe he has only lost two games to Africa opposition, and truth me,he has played almost all the best.algeria, Cameroon, Zambia, south Africa, Senegal..and came out tops..albeit,qualifying us for two major tournaments within a short time..
Westerhof lost out on his first mission, and that was to qualify us for Italian 90.and we were almost there when he took over, just needing a draw against cameroon.he goofed..and yet we gave him time.
We paid Vogts better than we are paying Rohr, and he did less.
For me,Rohr is doing a great job, managing the players.and it shows in the determination and passion of the boys wanting to play for the Eagles..you can see the early arrival to camp.the calming atmosphere, the understanding between the team and the media.the good relationship between the FA and the coaching team.you can see passion of the boys wanting all teams representing Nigeria to succeed, and the support is there from all..it has never been this good in the history of Nigeria football.i stand to be corrected.
And when you have such passion, organisation, and good atmosphere, success is round the corner.it is already showing in their results.
When hard-work knocks,success opens .
I don’t know about the future.but we live in the present, and the present predicts the future.
Rohr is doing good .
Omo9ja, I am solidly on the same page with you Biko.
What has Rohr done that Amodu and Keshi haven’t done. I will tell you. Keshi qualified for the World Cup reached the second round and won Afcon.
And this Rohr? He is presided over the most talented group of players in Nigeria for over a decade and what does he do? He makes them play the most boring brand of football so much so at times I would rather have a sit and have fun at my dentist.
I would rather watch paint dry than subject myself to watch Rohr-tutored super eagles but the sense of national duty keeps me glued to my telly.
The German has done well on paper but my people, don’t let anyone pull the wool over your eyes, this coach is rubbish.
With this generation of super talented Super Eagles players, even Amakapabo will lead them to lift the trophy.
This coach doesn’t take risks and leaves things to the very last minute before he acts.
Rohr must go!
If he does well in Egypt, only a sense of national duty will make me celebrate in the short term, then I will continue my campaign for us to rid ourselves of this low mentality poor strategy lucky German coach who failed in all African countries before coming to preside over super talented super eagles.
Free your mind and the rest will follow.
Happy Tuesday my people.
Ire o.
Hehehehe……Rohr must go…Oya go and kick him out na…LMAO
.
Every coach will go someday. There are but 2 categories of coaches….the ones that have been sacked and the ones that are waiting to be sacked. Mourinho left (all the clubs he had won trophies with)….Guardiola left (Barca and Bayern)….Wenger left…Ferguson left….Our much worshiped Westerhoff left…bonfrere left and left again…..Rohr will surely go someday. But what pains me for your and your fellow charlatans is that it wont be any time soon…so your day of joy isnt near….keep wailing while the rest of us keep having fun watching our own dear super eagles.

Happy midday my people
Peterside this is another great revelation and he is working in line with thenff to act as player promoter agent and thry share this cuts that is why you see some strange names like Akpeyi and co on our list.
Hababaaàa, why this capagn of calomny against this innocent man.Well I can only but conclude that u r an enemy of progress who does nothing but look for holes where there is non.O boy ur days of sadness and pain will last long cos Rohr has come to stay.
May your days of happiness and fulfilment last long . We shall not allow football stup us so low as to wish bad on our fellow Nigerians.
So, we shall reclaim what is rightfully ours Isha la.
Peace of Allah to all my breathers .
Libya sychel and co are dead ass teams against Senegal who is serious at the moment when Cameroon and Algeria are sleeping Rohr couldn’t use his brain to win but succumb to a draw a good coach would have easily wrapped that win.
So why didnt Senegal easily wrap up the win against Nigeria then…? Libya are dead ass team, yet u celebrated the victory of the U23s agaisnt them as if we just won the world cup…? Can u see how your hatred is making you to reason…? LMAO
@Asoko what trohpy has Rohr won with Nigeria and his placing at the world cup was it the best in Nigeria talkless of Africa. Lol shine your eyes before politcs blind you.
Chima, Omo9ja or Udah: we have finalized n conclude on who to replace Roir as soon as possible, n ask to name some tactical coaches you guys think can step IN or where the Super Eagles shoe……..?
As for me,Records are meant to be broken, what has Rohr done with super Eagles since he took over that has never been done before? This AFCON willl surely answer some questions.
