Bayer Leverkusen manager, Xabi Alonso has distanced himself from replacing Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool manager.
Recall that Klopp, 56, will depart Anfield at the end of the season after making a shock announcement of his decision on Friday.
Speculation has already begun on who might be installed in the Reds hotseat in the summer, with former midfielder Alonso the early bookmakers’ favourite.

However, in a chat with the club’s official website, Alonso stated that he has no business replacing Klopp at the end of the season.
“That’s a direct question! I don’t have a direct answer. I’m happy here right now, that’s for sure, and only thinking about Leverkusen.”
“I was surprised by Jurgen’s news. I have huge respect for Jurgen and Liverpool. At the moment I am really happy here and enjoying my work. Each day and game is a challenge. We are on an intense and beautiful journey here at Leverkusen.”

Where did he say he should be counted out in his statement above?
Erm..He didn’t actually say that?? Unless you watched a different interview to the one everybody else watched..He basically just said all the right things – things you would expect him to say, things anyone in his shoes would say if put in that situation..I personally just saw it as him sitting on the fence, which is not a bad thing to do at all considering all the obvious links and possible permutations.
