Former England manager Sam Allardyce is not open to the idea of a foreigner handling the Three Lions.
There are doubts over the future of Gareth Southgate following England’s quarter-final exit from the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
The Three Lions may not be able to convince Gareth Southgate to sign a new contract to take them to the next Euros or World Cup.
“No, it can’t happen, not again,” Allardyce told Sky Sports.
“I just think it is unacceptable. There’s enough qualifying managers and enough British coaches in this country to pick the right man.”
Allardyce added: “How successful were they [previously]?
I know where [the debate] has come from because the women’s team won it with a Dutch manager.
“It’s detrimental to the whole of what we have in this country if you don’t go and pick a British manager.”

Yes, they have the best league in the world…they have reasons to look inward. Unlike Nigeria. Some fools will come here to start the debate of having a local coach at the helm for the Super Eagles. Let me tell you, the best you can offer at this time is Eguavoen who has failed us many times. Look at our league….one of the worst in Africa. Your league is a reflection of the standard of football and coaching in your country and if your club sides can not perform well at the continental level and if your local players can not even qualify for CHAN, then what is your barometer of appointing a local coach to handle a brand like Super Eagles. A nation whose football administrators are looking up to Iraq to improve their football standard….are we really a serious country?
