Nigeria winger, David Akintola, scored an 11th minute goal in Rosenborg’s UEFA Champions League playoffs return leg match against Dinamo Zaghreb Tuesday which ended 1-1 at the 21,421 capacity Lerkendal Stadium but his effort did not stop the club from crashing out, Completesports.com reports.
Dinamo Zaghreb had a 2-0 advantage from the first leg going into the game.
Amer Gojak cancelled out Akintola’s early goal for Rosenborg lead on 71 minutes, handing Dinamo a 3-1 aggregate victory.
Babajide was later subbed off in the 74th minute by Yann-Erik de Lanlay
Akintola’s compatriot in Rosenborg , Samuel Adegbenro, was on for the entire 90 minutes.
Akintola, 23, is on loan from Danish side FC Midtjylland. He arrived Midtjylland in 2015 from FC Ebedei on five-year contract.
He has had loan spells at Thisted (2015-2016), Jerry (2017), Haugesund (2018) before his arrival at Rosenborg in 2019 for yet another loan deal.
