Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, has admonished the dropped pair of Kelechi Iheanacho and Semi Ajayi not to brood over their exclusion from the 23-man Nigeria squad for AFCON 2019, Completesports.com reports.
Instead, Aina who described Iheanacho and Ajayi as “unlucky” guys, urged them to use the period to rest well and prepare for the coming European league season.
“It’s very unfortunate. Unfortunate because they probably deserve to be here as much as any one of us, you know. It’s just unfortunate.
“Yes, I spoke to them. I said to them that they were unlucky not going to the Nations Cup.
“But they should hold their heads up, have a very nice break, recharge and be ready for the next season.
“This is only one thing (tournament), there are still more coming up”.
Ola expressed delight getting coach Gernot Rohr’s nod to make his Africa Cup of Nations debut for the Super Eagles.
“I’m happy, very happy, as you can see,” Aina said, It has been long time in coming,” he stressed.
