Sergio Aguero was the match winner for Manchester City who beat Burnley 1-0 in Sunday’s English Premier League clash at Turf Moor report Completesports.com.
The Argentine scored a 64th-minute goal – bundled in and given via goal-line technology despite Matthew Lowton’s attempted clearance – summed up much of City’s performance as Burnley’s organisation and resilience threatened to keep them out.
The win sends Manchester City back to the top of the EPL standing one point ahead of second place Liverpool with two games left to play.
Manchester City struggled to get going throughout a quiet first half but they stepped things up right in the second-half edging in front through Aguero’s shot that was awarded via goal-line technology.
It was his 20th EPL goal of the season- the fifth consecutive season that Aguero has scored 20 or more goals.
Pep Guardiola’s side came close to scoring a second through Gabriel Jesus’s shot, stopped on the line by Ben Mee but it was a nervy finale in Lancashire as they chucked on a fifth defender to hold on for all three points.
John Stones came on to replace Aguero as Manchester City held on for a nervy win.
The win for Manchester City, was their 30th of the season and they face Leicester City and Brighton & Hove Albion in their remaining league fixtures.
