Sergio Aguero could be relieved of penalty taking duties in the Champions League following his latest miss against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Manchester City striker saw his effort on Tuesday night saved by Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, which was further compounded as the north London side ran out 1-0 first-leg winners.
Etihad insiders have admitted Aguero’s poor penalty record in the competition could now be an area of concern for boss Pep Guardiola ahead of the return game in Manchester next week.
The South American has scored just three times from eight penalties in the Champions League during his impressive City career.

Aguero was also fortunate to see another spot-kick slip through the fingers of Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga in the Citizens’ League Cup final shoot-out victory back in February.
City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan does have a 100 per cent record from 12 yards and is widely considered to be the optimum choice if Guardiola does opt for a change of taker.
Aguero, however, is also currently the Premier League’s leading scorer on 19 goals, so certainly would not be happy if he was now relieved of all his penalty duties.
