Enoch Nwali, reigning African champion has emerged winner of the maiden edition of the Ultimate Scrabble Showdown after recording 11 wins out of the 21 rounds.
The showdown tagged ‘Rewarding Excellence’ saw the 3-day intellectual duel between Nwali and West African champion, Doko Oluwatimilehin on the board game which ended on Sunday, July 21 in Lagos.

Nwali, from the day 1 to the end, garnered more points to lead which he maintained to be crowned the winner.
Results from day 1 ended 4-2 in favour of Nwali while day 2 saw Doko close the gap to 6-6 but Nwali went on to end it 10-8.
Day 3 saw Doko’s mastery of the use of tiles as he gave Nwali no breathing space, forcing him to be on his toes but the African champion doused the tension to emerge champion with one point ahead.
