Falconets head coach Chris Danjuma is in buoyant mood ahead of his side’s opening fixture against Morocco at the 13th African Games.
Danjuma’s side will begin the defence of their title against the North Africans at the Cape Coast Stadium on Friday (today).
The gaffer underlined the importance of his side making a good start in the competition.
“Thank God we have qualified for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Colombia 2024; we want a good justification by coming here and exciting ourselves and knowing that we are able to match every other team that has qualified for the World Cup,” he told a press conference.
The tactician also acknowledged that much will be expected from his side in the women’s football event.
‘In every competition, Nigeria is the team to beat,” Danjuma added.
Senegal are the other team in the group following Cameron’s withdrawal.

Nigeria fans expect redemption from last year’s WAFU final disappointment against Ghana.
The Falconets are the most successful team in the history of the Africa Games with 3 Golds. I worry in Danjuma’s ability to deliver Gold this time around.
Recently, the coach starts well only to lose steam in the business end of tournaments.
So, he must not only start well against Morocco today but must end well with another Gold medal for the Falconets.
His girls are some of the best on the continent but they will come against a highly organised and motivated Morocco. The Falconets strikers, midfielders, defenders and goalkeepers are high fliers in the domestic scene.
A win for Danjuma should set the tone for the remainder of the tournament.
