Super Eagles caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen says the team will approach the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying double-header against Libya like a “World Cup” final.
The three-time African champions will be up against the Mediterranean Knights in a matchday three encounter at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo next week Friday.
The West Africans will do battle with the North Africans in Benina four days later.

“We play against Libya back-to-back, it will be the same approach that we had for the previous games, but it’s a game at a time, so game 3 (vs Libya) is a World Cup final,” Eguavoen Brila FM
“No game will be easy, but we will do everything possible to put smiles on the face of Nigerians
“We need the fans to be patient and they should support the team with all our hearts.
“We hope to have the full complement of the team, let the boys stay injury-free, we have the players who can rule the world.”

Eguavoen – Hear me well and make no mistakes or entertain any delusions to the contrary – You statement is spot-on, so as they say you have spoken well.
But have no doubt that this statement does not and must not apply to just the Libya game alone- This statement must apply to literally Every Game from here on out!
This for obvious reasons, when considering (for a start) the plight we are in, in terms of WC qualification, but even beyond that now – the person who takes and retains this job must understand that there is no capacity for losses, not even a single loss from now until the WC qualification has been signed, sealed and delivered. And then we carry on, even after that, no letting up! Highest of standards as per results for the SE’s of Nigeria from now on!
Yes, we know that no team in the world can go forever without losing games here and there, and we/you/the SE’s and whoever the substantive coach will turn out to be are all only human and are not exempt from this fact of life, but we must become excellent at prioritising and very proficient at winning at the RIGHT times and if at all we’re going to lose the odd game, let it be because the other team ABSOLUTELY deserved to win and hopefully by careful strategising, we can minimise the instances of those losses costing us major honours like, qualifications and championships/trophies!
Ese!
It’s clear the interim manager needs more time on the job.
With due respect, it’s Libya we’re talking about, not their maghreb neighbors who are all much more dangerous.
If we can’t get AT LEAST 4 points from this Libya double header, then we are neither ready or serious.
