The two countries were drawn in the same group for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers on Thursday.
Rohr, who once managed the Super Eagles stated that he has huge respect for the three-time African champions but is confident his side can beat their fellow West Africans again.
“It’s a difficult draw, because there’s Nigeria again. And we have Rwanda, an adversary that we know well and of whom we are wary. There is also Libya who have a good team, it will be a difficult trip there,” Rohr was quoted by the official website of Benin Football Federation.
“Another reunion with Nigeria. That’s going to be three more games with them [including the upcoming second leg, counting for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers]. It’s a reunion against a very good team. But we gained confidence and we know we can beat them. ”

GENERAL ROAR and CONFIDENCE na 5 & 6
Not your fault at all. Let’s wait and see.
It’s not his fault, we’re the one’s that gave him big mouth.
Well it’s logical for Rohr to have this kind of confidence after the first defeat to his team and yet again , there’s the reason to see this as the kind of push that Super Eagles needs for both world cup qualifiers and Afcon . The balls in their court now .
Rohr is an average coach. Not to worry, when we get a very coach, we would beat him hands down.
Are u sure? With the way NFF has been playing games with the appointment of a new coach, they’ll go and appoint one quack at the last minute and expect him to do everything (scout players, convince, monitor, test etc). I think we have 4 matches in September, which is around the corner we’re in July. We’re playing Benin Sept 2nd, Rwanda Sept 6th and Libya twice. Rohr is already working, probably convincing more Nigerian players to play for Benin. And we still don’t have a coach!
Everyone should know that Oga Rohr have what it takes to beat Nigeria after he takes Nigeria to the World Cup in Russia when we could not go to the World Cup back-to-back. We could not even go to AFCON back-to-back until he came along. He will surely take his young boys to their first world cup in their history even at the back of super eagle, He knows how to do it. Equally so, Oga Rohr may qualify his young boys to AFCON at the expense of Nigeria again and again. Believe me.
Super Eagles have missed their prestige in African foitball , cause the the two clueless and ignorant persons Sport Minister John Enoh and NFF president Gausu have committed stupid error which they have hire clueless and ignorant coach Finidi George who has snafued SE tactic and formation in the two matches versus South Africa and Benin which have cost SE to miss six points , this result has exposed SE to miss the World Cup in USA, Canada, Mixco 2026 ; if SE miss one of six matches and South Africa win all their matches , I think definitley will miss the next World Cup ; SE have missed their prestige because Sport Minister and NFF president mismanagement of SE and Nigeria football and their cluelessness and ignorance of chosing clueless local coach than to choose World Class foreign coach for SE also their weakness of NPLF managing which impacted on selection of local players to SE ; if Nigeria would like to bring their old prestige they have to make many arrays to overhaul on Nigeria football , they should hire World Class coach for SE , NFF should inact a law that NPLF clubs must be public sharing companies which depend on their funds, any players in these clubs must be professional players, the clubs must estabish especial acadimies which must introduce talented players for their clubs, NFF must make NPLF clubs acadimies in order to establish age national teams which they will participate in Africa and World Cup teams under 16, Youth teams under 20 , then escalate to olympic team under 23 ; NFF must enhance football management by hiring football technocrats for developing football in the country, NFF in this law must order NPLF to build their especial stadiums with the attaches like gyms and training ground , in this law also NFF must order these clubs to put injury and accidents insurance for any player recorded in the club, in this law NFF must allow player over 20 year to join foreign clubs but they mustn’t allow player under 20 to join foreign club, also in this law NFF must compel force any allowed player to join European clubs than to join Arbic clubs in order to develop their capacities and football mentality and to live in World Class football which is in Europe in order to benefit themselves and the national teams, if NFF did these arrays , I think they would creat enormos and incredible national teams especially Super Eagles…
Also there is important thing which I didn’t mention ,that NFF must compel any coach in NPFL to have training licence from big institute or foreign especially from Europe , also any local coach would like to coach Super Eagles or under 20 or olympic team must have European coaching licence and also played in Europe cause he knows World football so much , NFF must establish football coaching institute for local coaches who would like to coach at small leauges, then they can coach in NPLF after ten years exprience at low leagues…
The signs has been there all along, you see other African team playing prestigious friendly matches, instead Nigeria will go and play Mali in one African stadium, playing the same team twice in a week, in an empty stadium, they cancelled a friendly match with Argentina and instead going to play in Morocco, what can you possibly achieve with such administrators.
