AFCON 2025Q: Super Eagles Plane Permitted To Fly Out Of Libya

The Super Eagles chartered aircraft has been granted permission to fly out of Libya, reports Completesports.com.

The players resolved not to honour Tuesday’s 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday four  encounter against the Mediterranean Knights after the ordeal they have undergone since Sunday afternoon at the hands of Libyan authorities.

The Libyans earlier refused to sell aviation fuel to the plane.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) refused attempt by the Libyan authorities
to issue a pre-clearance to land in Benghazi first before they fly to Nigeria.

The players and their officials are already on their way back to Nigeria.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) is expected to take firm action on the incident.

Lmao..These guys are just lazy set of players…

These flight diversion and delays as a result of security checks, air control measures are normal…

They have to realize that they are soldiers on the battle field and put Nigerians happiness first…

Their rashidi yekini, siasia, the bull experienced incidents like these infact their own they travelled by road for hours to Ghana, Cameroon etc entertaining Nigerians without complaining but all these genzee super eagles players want to boycott matches because of flight delays…smh…

    • This is no abt flight delay its tactics to make them unavailable to play on the pitch. The guys security is not guaranteed. Kindly look at it from safety point of view and also how come in the video seen why is the airport locked and why is it that it’s only super eagles crew we are seeing in the whole airport. Hmmm something is wrong

    • you talk like an idiot

Sir,I can’t believe this is coming from u of all pple. This under hand tactics by the opposition.Imagine ur broda being kept for more than 16 hrs after a flight with no food, water etc and u are taking abt being a soldier.Gate of the so called airport was locked. They even refused the pilot a place to rest his head,as there was an instruction not to accept the Nigerians contingents attempt to access local hotels. They even refused to sell aviation fuel to us to fly back home.Sir they go ahead to Benghazi and stay with who and with what security officials. If CAF/FIFA continue to be silent, over this kind of demonic and barbaric antics good for them…The safety of these players and officials is worth more than 3 points….The world is watching.Truly Africa can do better and Nigerians no matter how passionate can talk better.

You call that flight delay? A deliberate act of wickedness!!! Do you know what they could do to our players even before the match, talk less of after the match should Nigeria win. They should return unless CAF intervenes.

See how dumb u re, Libya first of all is not a safe country , I wonder why CAF is allowing them to play at home. The best decision the NFF has ever taken is for the boys to return home. Libyans are so uncivilized, and can do anything to hurt our players. Caf should sanction them, and make sure no international matches are played there.

      You speaking senselessly

I don’t think this person is well, if not such comments will not be coming out of your mouth.

  • Caf has been silent over this . Well the match will be played in a neutral venue because the Libya fed response shows it’s a planned work and am strongly in support of the boycott of the match and if caf feels awarding 3points to Libya’d is the best decision so be it as long as our guys are back home and safe. The welfare of our players is altmost paramount to us. We are Nigerians and we are the giant. God bless Nigeria

  • I have been so worried about the safety of the team. Especially if we beat them.
If it comes to that, I would rather we forfeit the 3 points and get the team out of their safe and sound.
However, it is much more likely that Libya will face punitive measures from CAF and FIFA.
Going forward, Libya home matches should be played on neutral ground.
