AFCON 2025Q: Libya FA Threatens Legal Action Over Nigeria’s Withdrawal

The Libya Football Federation has threatened to take legal action against Nigeria after the Super Eagles pull out of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday four encounter.

The Super Eagles were stranded at the Al Abaq Airport for several hours after arriving Libya for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matchday four encounter against the Mediterranean Knights.

The players cited safety concerns as reason for their action.

The LFF accused the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for refusing to cooperate with them.

The statement read, “The Libyan Football Federation condemns the measures taken by the Nigerian Football Federation by refusing to play the Libya-Nigeria match in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers scheduled for Tuesday, October 15, stressing that it will take all legal measures to preserve the interests of the Libyan national football team.”

“The LFF also mentioned that the incidents beyond its control could not be compared to what the Libyan team experienced in the first leg, suggesting that the Nigerian federation was responsible for the mishandling of both the initial and return legs.

“The Libyan Federation attaches some inhumane footage that did not prevent the Libyan mission from playing the Nigeria-Libya match last Friday in Nigeria, out of cooperation with the Confederation of African Football.

“The Libyan Football Federation clarifies that its Nigerian counterpart did not cooperate with it in any way, whether regarding the first or second leg match, noting that the events beyond our control do not equal a small part of what the Libyan national team was exposed to in the first leg match,” it said.

The statement further offered an apology to Libyan football fans for the confusion and delays in the match arrangement, attributing these issues to the NFF’s actions.

“The Libyan Football Federation apologises to Libyan football fans everywhere and to the parties concerned with the match arrangements due to the state of confusion caused by the Nigerian Football Federation, which led to the match not being held on time,” the statement concluded.

    HAHAHAHAHA!
Libya FA, unu mumu no too much?

    • Hahahaha @Pompei. When the farmer doesn’t quickly arrest a thief on his farm, soon the thief will arrest the farmer (owner).

These guys are pure manipulators and I’m now beginning understand the dynamics in that region more clearly.

It was a well-orchestrated plan right from the first leg to create a hoax ill-treatment situation in Nigerian and then use it as a counter-argument to execute all the evils they already planned for the 2nd leg – all in a bid to earn a cheap and backdoor 3 points. The sheer dirty mind tricks disgust me to no end!

We no ill-treat Benin or Ghana or South Africa, shey nah Libya with no footballing pedigree we go dey delay for the airport to gain a competitive advantage. Very laughable.

      – They diverted their own route from Uyo to PH.
      – They came in chartered flight and could still easily have taken off to Uyo
      – PH airport is an international airport, recently refurbished with world class facilities. The manipulators decided to sit on the floor instead and take pictures.
      – They refused to fly to Uyo and insisted on their own bus and lied it was what was provided.

I prau CAS intervened in this matter and bans Libya for 10 years as a deterrence to their Arab neighbors (Algeria are another notorious country for these kinds of manipulative games). Make we catch them for another match-up, we go serve them cold vengeance on the field of play.
