Black Stars of Ghana’s struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying continued after they were held to a 0-0 draw by Sudan in Group F at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.
The four-time AFCON winners have now failed to win any of their opening three games – losing one and drawing two.
After three games, the Black Stars are third on two points , two points behind Sudan and a further two adrift of leaders Angola, who host Niger on Friday, October 11.
The Black Stars were hoping for better fortunes and made a bright start as Alexander Djiku hit the crossbar with a header from Mohammed Kudus’ cross on five minutes.
On 11 minutes Ernest Nuamah then fired a shot just wide off target following an exquisite pass from Mohammed Kudus before Antoine Semenyo tested Mohamed Al Mustafa after bursting into the box on 17 minutes.
The visitors defended doggedly to ensure it remained 0-0 at the break and they came under more pressure in the second half as GHana pushed for the opener.
In the 56th minute Semenyo struggled to bring the ball under control from Alidu Seidu’s cross on the right, allowing the goalkeeper to clear his lines and Kudus drew a smart save from Al Mustafa moments later after latching onto a rebound.

Sudan’s best opportunity came on 72 minutes when they won a free-kick in a central position 30 yards out and Lawrence Ati-Zigi took no chances as he tipped a curling shot behind that might have been going over the bar.
Athletic Bilbao forward Inaki Williams fired a shot across the face of goal from an acute angle on the right in the 85th minute after being released into the box and Kudus somehow failed to turn the ball home from a yard out on 88 minutes after Williams missed Seidu’s cross.
Williams squandered an even better chance in stoppage time after being picked out by Kudus inside the 18-yard area and Abdul Fatawu blazed over on the rebound following good work from the keeper.

God will punish black Stars for spoiling my ticket
Ghana is in a worse state than Nigeria.
I once met a man who shared a story that stuck with me. He said his family was so destitute that even their poor neighbors looked down on them, calling them the poorest in the area.
Just picture it—being so impoverished that even those who themselves struggle feel sorry for you.
As bad as Nigerian football is, I still have the nerve to criticize Ghanaian football!
Their game was nearly moved to a neutral venue due to the poor pitch conditions, because there wasn’t a single playable turf in all of Ghana.
But even after convincing CAF to let them play at home, they still couldn’t manage to score a single goal against Sudan.
@Selfamade and co, I truly feel sorry for your pain (lol).

I see this from a different view point.
Ghana dominated the game, and the scoreline could easily have been 3 to 4 nil in Banku’s favour.
The miss by Kudus in front of open net sums it up. That would have gone in any other day.
Perhaps the poor pitch was a factor?
I see Ghana beating Sudan away, if they play the same way they played today. But hey, you need you put the ball in the back of the net. You can’t win matches without goals.
