Nigeria however fought back with Victor Osimhen equalising with another header eight minutes from time.
Eguavoen praised his players for putting up a good fight in the second half.
“It was a tough game and I congratulate the players for a spirited display in the second half that earned us the equaliser,” Eguavoen told thenff.com.
“The downpour made the game difficult for both teams, but I am happy we have the AFCON finals ticket in the bag ahead of the final game of the series against Rwanda in Uyo on Monday.”

EGUAVOEN is just LUCKY BENEFITING off GENERAL ROAR’S LEGACY..cos apart from NWABALI and one or two PLAYERS 95 PERCENT of the BOYS are his BOYS…so it’s still GENERAL ROAR’S TEAM…
LMAO….And it’s FUNNY that with all the CALIBER of PlAYERS GENERAL ROAR left in his POSSESSION, he still needs the HELP of LYBIA and 3 POINTS plus 3 GOALS from CAF to QUALIFY and yet some of his FANS are shouting he QUALIFIED with 2 GAMES to SPARE trying to COMPARE him to GENERAL ROAR when the LATTER back then ACHIEVED and BROKE every RECORD all by himself without the help of no one…. LMAO
Exactly what I expect @Dr Drey to say when I attacked him earlier but he disappointed me, but you using that as an excused now is baseless, so you think Libya would have won that match? Listen had it been we needed todays match so badly, the boys would have put in more effort, we surely preferred Benin to qualify to Libya, we did Benin little favor today so let them go into the last match and conquer Libya to qualify.
Did Rohr not benefit players from his predecessors as well? Please overcome this blame games or negative views of everything before we cease hearing from you. Just an advice before your life becomes too toxic for existence.
Yes, you are right. He inherited players who couldn’t qualify for back to back AFCONs.
Well done boys.
Well guys we need a tactical coach Egu May b good at man management but he is not a tactical coach if u watched d match void of sentiment u will agree with me that GR is d master tactically, if d two coaches are on the opposite side GR will beat Egu silly, and it pains me the more that since 2006 Egu started his romance with d SE as interim coach he has done nothing to improve himself tactically he believes he knows it all, guys wey de sing Egu praises now wait until we play South Africa u guys will be heart broken
