Group Managing Director, Complete Communications Limited, Dr. Mumuni Alao, has explained why it is important the Super Eagles get the first goal in Thursday’s clash with hosts Côte d’Ivoire.
The Eagles will hope to record their first win in Group A at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations when they face the Ivorians.
Despite heading into Sunday’s game against Equatorial Guinea as heavy favourites, the Eagles could only settle for a 1-1 draw.
On their part, Côte d’Ivoire got off to a perfect start thanks to a 2-0 win against Guinea-Bissau.
Previewing the big clash, Dr. Alao said the first goal of the game will determine the outcome of the game.
“The first goal will be decisive; the Super Eagles must score it. To do that, they must be adventurous and clinical against the Ivorians.

“The Eagles must start the match on the front foot, take the fight to the opposition instead of adopting their usual slow starts. And when the goal scoring opportunities come, they must take them!
“Nigeria scoring first will create some panic in the home team and anxiety amongst their supporters which the Eagles can capitalise on to score again. If the Ivorians are allowed to score first, they will settle down to dictate proceedings and a comeback will be difficult for Nigeria.
“I wish the Super Eagles the best of luck.“
The last time the Eagles faced Côte d’Ivoire at the AFCON was in the quarter-finals in 2013.
Led by the late Stephen Keshi, the Eagles triumphed 2-1 and proceeded to be crowned AFCON champions.

This should be the starting line up for Nigeria Today to ensure the Win. I believe Lookmana and Especially Moses Simon are more effective as Subs. Super Subs if you like. Man O Man how Ndidi and Boniface would have been needed Today even Awoniyi
This is a good line up Ugo apart from the left side. I encourage you to replace Moffi with Ahmed Musa. Musa is quicker and more experienced.
Also bring back Uzoho. Also sub in Onuachu.
Cheers
@deo Musa and Lookman can come in 2nd Half that is if the Coach can Trust Musa to add something to the game which I highly doubt as he has so far proved. I think it is safe to say his hands are tied when it comes to Musa name on this list order’s come from Abuja state house.
With Regards to Uzoho all I can say is LoooooL!. By you suggesting his name it as good as saying you wish Nigeria to loose Lol
Cheers bro! lets hope we have a good game
@deo Believe Me Musa can Add nothing to this game!.

WHY MUST IT ONLY BE IN NIGERIA WHERE WE HAVE PEOPLE LIKE @MONKEY POST WITH VILLAGE MINDSET?. MIND YOU YOU DEMENTED BASTARD MUSA WAS AN UNSED PLAYER IN 2013 LIKE I ALWAYS SAID THE PLAYER BACK THEN WHO YOUR NORTHEN GOVERMENT SUCCESSFULLY HANDED HIS SHINE TO MUSA WAS DICTATING THAT GAME IN 2013 WAS NON OTHER THAN VICTOR MOSES (THE EXPERIENCE I ALWAYS SAID WE NEEDED NOT MUSA) ALSO THE MVP OF 2013 TOURNAMENT.
