Indomitable Lions of Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song has said Victor Osimhen is a player they respect but are not afraid of.
Song’s Indomitable Lions will come up against old foes, the Super Eagles, in the round of 16 of the AFCON in Abidjan on Saturday.
One player the Cameroonians would be keeping a close tab on is Osimhen.
The reigning CAF Player of the Year has only managed one goal in three games which was against Equatorial Guinea.

Despite not setting the AFCON 2023 alight yet, Osimhen is one player the Cameroonians would be wary of because of the threat he carries.
But Song would be out of place to be scared of Osimhen.
“Osimhen is a big player,” Song was quoted on uk.sports.yahoo.com.
“We know him and respect him. But respecting him doesn’t mean that we should fear him.”
The two-time AFCON winner explained what his players must do to get the better of their rival.
“We are focused to play and avoid engaging in emotions. We must apply our philosophy and technique to win … We cannot be worried about a football game.
“We will approach this match with confidence and the outcome we want will come.”

Who asked you questions papa Song?
Do the talking on the pitch please
Song just dey play, e go shocked u for eyes today
Osimhen has proven inefficable times without number once paired with defenders who can match him strenght for strenght and pace for pace….and I am sure that is a weekness Song will gladly want to exploit.
Coach Peserio should look beyond Osimhen for goals in this game and fashion out a game plan that will see other less notbale players get into scoring positions…possibly the fullbacks.
I’ve seen Zaidu get into the box very often in this tournament but consistently fluffed his opportunities most probably because he stumbled upon them, wasn’t expecting them and hence got caught in 2 minds. Himself and Ọla should be prepared mentally for those situations where they will be the ones in custody of daggers that will sink the lions.
Osimhen would have to emerge with a new dimension, offer something different and do stuff no one has seen him do before in order to be the messiah of today battle.
It’s a battle of wits, strenght and most importantly, a battle of who wants it most.
Spot on bro but u missed one thing d present oshimen can not be marked out by just one defender no matter how good u r it’s not possible n that is to our own advantage,d whole team should up their game lookman/oshimen/chukwueze combo should giv every defense source of worry all been said d match will be won by the team that wants it more
@Dr Drey lies no defender can Match Osimhen strength for strength in AFCON and certainly not pace for pace.. the only thing in Osimhen is lacking now if confidence in his finishing at the momenent evident in his chances to goal Conversion rate at AFCON almost 13 missed chances and most came from splitting the defence with pace or shrugging a defender off for the header which he misses..
I believe he is still recovering from the commotion of the start of this season and expectations placed on him based on his strong last season it is normal for some players even Haaland is having a more difficult season this one
Thank you , well said but Oshimen still carries threats even when he is not scoring,

Hahahahaha….dumb idiot. You think everyone is a cheap liar like you…??? Indeed no defender can match osimhen strenght for strenght….LMAOoo.
Go back and watch Victor’s games vs Liverpool, AC Milan or Real Madrid and come back here to repeat your fallacy that no defender can match Osimhen strenght for strenght….LMAOoo.
Sorry….how many shots at goal did we have again CIV again….???? Did someone just say 1….?

We didn’t know osimhen is the strongest man in the world.
Drey, I don’t think you have to make insulting remarks to make your point. Let’s all learn to have different opinions and still enjoy the conversation. We wish the the Super Eagles the best of luck today.
