Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro refused to accept the favourites tag ahead of his side’s quarter-final clash with Angola.
The three-time champions have been tipped to beat the Palancas Negras after getting past the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in the Round of 16.
Peseiro stated that Pedro Goncalves’ side will not be an easy opponent for his side.
The Portuguese further said it is important for his players to approach the game with commitment and great spirit.
“It’s going to be a tough game between two teams that want to reach the final. Angola is not big name but they have good players and have played well in this competition .It’s going to be a tough game,” Peseiro said during his interaction with the media in Abidjan on Thursday.
“It will be a tough game but we need to approach it with vigour , commitment and good spirit to come out with a win.
“It’s going to be 50/50 for the two teams. I believe in my team, we want to win even though we won’t accept we are the favourites. We will go there and fight.”
The highly anticipated encounter will hold at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan on Friday.

Great mind game. Well done Coach Jose Paseiro
The eagles are favourites but be careful with Angola. Play them hard, the same way u played Cameroon. I watched their game with Ghana in Kumasi and they have very skillful players who can really play. We were lucky to escape with a 1-0 scoreline with all the support and pressure in kumasi. Be warned!
YEAH..THANKS BROTHERLY…
What are you talking about the coach said that his team is not favorite
I like the spirit of this super eagles team staring from the coach to the players they really mean the business
You are favourite Peseiro , but you must play as the same match you played Cameroon ; with hard pressing on Angolan midfielders and forwards, covering small spaces by midfielders and defenders, all players must defend when Super Eagles loose the ball, all players must attack when SE keep the ball with taking care from Angolan counter attack; SE midfielders and defenders must cover tightly Angolan shooting from distance , cause I think this can be their tactics to score goals, if Uzoho takes the job , Peseiro must give him strict instructions to cover goal’s spaces well especially when Angolan keep the ball from distance or when they want to shoot from distance , Peseiro must put Osimhen as second forward , Lookman can be as frist forward , so Osimhen can drag Angolan defenders out off their line , Lookman and Simon can size this opportunities to score goals, Iwobi and Onyeka must be still on their positioning in the midfield in order to hinder and tackle Angolan shooting from distance or counter attack by Gelson or Mabululu, so Iwobi and Onyeka must be the shadow of thoes tow above mentioned players; Moffi and Iheancho can take their chance to play , thoes tow players have eagle’s eye with scoring through goal’s edges.
