Victor Osimhen claimed the Super Eagles have not played their best football yet at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Super Eagles have won three and drawn one of their four games in Cote d’Ivoire.
Jose Peseiro’s side have already defeated heavyweights; Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon in the competition.
Despite their gritty display so far at the AFCON 2023 finals, Osimhen believed the Super Eagles still have plenty to offer.

“I cannot lie, we haven’t played the best of our football yet. I think the whole team has this mentality of winning, we want to win,” Osimhen told reporters.
“For me we are more like a family than just players. So for me it is important to have this mentality of winning.
“I want to give kudos to my defenders. They have been focused since the start of this competition. We also have a good goalkeeper [Nwabali]. We want to keep this momentum going.”
The Super Eagles will take on the Palancas Negras of Angola in a quarter-final fixture on Friday.

True word by Osimene. Watching these boy play, you could easily see they are yet to enter anything close to their highest gear.
That surely gives a sign of how far they gonna go. Most likely winning this AFCON. A AAAAAAAWWUUUUURAAAA. VICTORY IS CERTAIN, ALL TO THE GLORY OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Osimhen said true words , cause he is pragmatic player, has a real thought on Super Eagles situation , so I think SE players can change their mentality in the coming match versus Angola on semi-final, play their classic football.
I just Wish Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi and Wilfred Ndidi was in this tournament, There presence or lack there off in this tournament is felt
@Ugo, na lie.
If the players you mentioned where in this AFCON, take it from me, the coach would not have discovered what we are enjoying now.
@Zuka Chris. Lol of course the coach would have still discovered his game plan and, Infact our transition play would have been more Deadly. i,.e. a player for instance like Taiwo Awoniyi being called in to do what Onuachu task is would have done much better than Paul and maybe still given our attack some venom after Osimhen is resting on bench, the coach would have had the luxury of benching Zaidu and have Bassey in his place because Ndidi is fit. And also Boniface would have just slot into Moses Simon place in the team and we would have the luxury of having Moses Simon as a super Sub and have players like Awoniyi and Chukwueze coming of the bench.
So to answer your concern the Coach would have discovered whatever tactics he did but, with these players SE will even execute this tactics alot smoother and Better would be almost seemless.
P.s. Are you now saying that players who missed our Campaign due to unfortunate injury First choice Players, must now move down the SE pecking order? or can you not see that the reason we are not as smooth in executing the coaches orders is because some first choice players are missing??.
Granted yes if SE win the players will comeback in the team and maybe start our first game game of the bench, Such players will win thier starting places back after coming of the bence for a cameo. After all there is a reason they are first choice lol
Let us stop speculating with the unknown but rather, deal with the reality.
If Boniface was in the squad , pesiro would be reluctant to change his formation from 4-4-2 to what it is now.. Boniface would likely play alongside oshimen in a deadly attack but this will open up our defense line and as we score goals ,we would concede and probably get knocked out from the tournament…
Sometimes the absence of stars leads to the birth of another star or a change in formation..
Lookman before now has struggled as a winger but with this formation he is finding more space in the middle of the pitch.. who would have given Yusuf a chance if ndidi was fit? Who would have given nwabali a chance if pesiro wasn’t pressured by Nigeria fans to drop Uzoho? A trip to South Africa to watch Chippa united lead to the discovery of this wonderful goalkeeper..
Going forward. The lesson should be this: give new players the chance to shine in the team.. provided they are playing in the club, the location of the club should not matter.. any player who doesn’t play well should be replaced by another! Keeping a non performing player for too long will show that below average performances are accepted in the team.
That should give us so much to look forward to going into the world cup qualifiers.
But honestly speaking, Ndidi’s case is not something to hope on anymore; just when you celebrating his form going into a tournament, he gets injured. Always a setback. SE don’t need that.
shut up na lie
Acceptably, that’s a signature statement from the African football king, Osimhen. Obviously, they are working on their lapses because we aren’t expecting excuses now that they have put smiles on our faces by reaching the quarter finale.
Senegal is too strong, too strong. They’ve just talent the lead against CIV and its just 5 munites.
