Former Nigerian international, Peter Rufai says the Super Eagles are finally back to their best after the team’s impressive 1-0 win over Angola in the quarter finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nation on Friday.
Former Fulham and Everton winger Ademola Lookman crashed home the only goal of the game in the 41st minute as the Super Eagles, chasing a fourth AFCON title, came up against a determined resistance in Abidjan.
However, reacting after the game, the 1994 AFCON winner, who was a guest at Afrosports AFCON coverage, stated that there is unity and discipline in the squad.

He also praised Lookman for scoring his third goal at the tournament and insisted that the Atalanta star has raised his game to another level.
“Loomkman has been having a very beautiful tournament, he raised the game up and was very effective when it matters most. I am so excited for him at this tournament. As it stands, this is the Super Eagles we use to know in the past.
“I am also happy with the connection between the goalkeeper and the defenders. I love the unity and discipline in the squad. Peseiro has also understand the type of team he has presently.”

Glory To God!
Angola chop woto woto after all their mouth and noise – we move on!
We have changed our old number that they had and have left the field of play today with thier own number along with dialing code!
From today onwards, I don’t want to hear pim from Angola again.
Oya let’s goo!
This Nwabili man is a beast.
See person dey throw ball with hand pass wetin Uzoho dey kick with leg…
That guy na thug.
Why woulddn’t they when they were not playing expressing yourself football which there is no arsenal for. Imagine the conservative approach the former gaffer were playing that you were shouting to high heaven is giving us winning now. The Angolans were the best team judging by the statistics in fact all the team we have played against in this competition outplayed us but our conservative approach works out and giving us result which is what matters most in the game. Congratulations to the boys and the coaching crews.

I beg to differ @Tayo,maybe in terms of possession in their own halves due to the system. The team seems very oiled and they attack at will and defend very solidly, mind you Cameroon never had any shot on goal against and even Angola had less 3 shot on goal.
Nwabali! And finally, Carl Ikeme has a successor. But it took almost 10 years. The guy has the frame of a tank, kicks and distributes ball with finesse.
There is a character is nwabali which is absent in the keepers we have been having… If not that ball that hit the pole would have entered into the net . The fear of losing the ball to the keeper makes players try had to stretch their legs to angle 90° and that could result into the ball going out of the pole but a keeper without any fear factor into the opponent mind during play can results into the attacking opponent playing the ball at an angle of 89° which will makes the ball either be parried or hit the bar and strolled into the net.. check on okoye in club duty apart from being good ends up conceding a goal or two using the observation or check on nsoho conceded goals via a vis so other keepers.so if I say clubs from premier league or France or Italy mind be on the look out for the Nigerian keeper in 2024 afcon I could be correct. It is man u keeper u want to compare with him .. far far far fowl.
