Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has been left out Black Stars of Ghana’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations squad as he continues to recover from a hamstring problem.
Partey has been out of action since October and played just five games in all competitions this season, also suffering a groin problem earlier in the campaign.
The 30-year-old is expected to be fit and return to action by the end of January, but as he is still not available to play Ghana head coach Chris Hughton has not risked him in his squad.
Partey has suffered a number of injuries over his time at Arsenal, which manager Mikel Arteta admitted was a concern for him.
The Black Stars will get their campaign underway in Ivory Coast on 14 January against Cape Verde.

The four-time AFCON winners will also face Egypt and Mozambique.
Meanwhile, Premier League representation in the Ghana squad comes from West Ham and Crystal Palace forwards Mohammed Kudus and Jordan Ayew.
Brighton full-back Tariq Lamptey misses out through injury as well, though, having not played for the Seagulls since November

IF IT IS NIGERIA, HE WILL BE SLOTTED IN, CLAIMING THAT HE IS A LEADER, EXPERIENCE, CAPTAIN OF A TEAM. NIGERIA WILL SAY HIS EXPERIENCE, LEADERSHIP WILL BE NEEDED.
PASEIRO IS A SENTIMENTAL COACH. HE ALWAYS SELECT PLAYERS BASE ON EGO, SENIORITY & UNLESS EXPERIENCE.
Can you tell us the injured player in the eagles list at the moment….??!
The last time I checked, it was “your own” who slotted an injured Olisah Ndah into our AFCON squad while still nursing an injury.
Guy, relax. Your job is not at stake. It is his. I do know he will fail. The same thin midfield, untrustworthy goalie, immobile and static defense. Uninspiring gaffer. Incompetent glasshouse.
Inclusion of Musa and Ekong is good the duo have afcon experience they are capable to play against any team in the afcon stop blaming the coach Musa is the captain of the team and he is playing in a football club in Europe is Musa that bad?? Musa is better than some of the players you have been clamouring for their inclusion.a nuf of Desers.onuachu we have seen the best of them. as for Ekong he was solid during the last afcon with a goal he has been with the team for a long time he has not comited blunder his inclusion is acceptable.pray and souport the team .
