Victor Osimhen has been cleared to face the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in Wednesday’s semi-final clash at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Osimhen was a major doubt for the game after failing to travel with the rest of the team to Bouake on Monday night due to abdominal discomfort.
Head coach Jose Peseiro failed to offer assurance on the Napoli forward’s availability for the game during his pre-match press conference earlier today.
“Until now, I cannot answer right because it is about health. This afternoon, I can know better if he can play or not,” Peseiro stated.
Osimhen, Completesports.com can report is on his way to Bouake to join his teammates.
The 25-year-old has scored one goal and registered one assist in five appearances for the Super Eagles at the ongoing AFCON 2023 finals.
The Super Eagles will have their final training session ahead of the game against the Bafana Bafana at the Stade Annexe, Bouake later tonight.

Yes o! Then go take!!!
All we have been hearing about Osimhen’s health issues are just mind games by the coach. Pesseiso is just a replica of Mourinho in everything. I wish Osimhen good luck to silence Bafana Bafana tomorrow.
Isreal Abia,
I wish Osimhen speedy recovery but in his unfortunate absence, Onuachu will stick the landing in front of goal.
I said so! This coach most likely wanted Bafana to have a false sense of hope. Now the fierce masquerade is back.
Good luck to Osi.
We thank God. He’s a real fighter needed to harrass South African defenders. May be Ademola can feed-off Osimhen’s effort to win AFCON too scorer. Either ways, it’s a win-win for us.
The manner at which some lazy and paud journalists go about this Kelechi no show thing is becoming really embarrassing!!
No coach will change his formation or winning team to satisfy any player.
Kelechi does not have the work ethic of any player in the frontline and his inclusion Will affect team balance and create vacuum. The closest player he can replace is Iwobi because both are not good defending and hold up play. But he can’t play Iwobi’s role in the midfield.
If the team needs to attack or is in a comfortable lead, then Kelechi can be brought in.
Barring any injury, the current 11 will remain the same.
No sane coach will change a winning team to satisfy unknown agitators.
Cam you imagine? GOD BLESS YOU MY BROTHER , a team is winning they still want the coach to change his winning team. And one funny thing is that if the coach lose the match they will be the first person to attack the coach for changing formation, I just don’t understand how they reason
My own is, JP will win this AFCON and write his name in GOLD among coaches that have won it for us but doing it the special way, bring them ON, den go collect wotowoto.
I said it that Oshimen will play against south Africa. Omo9ja are you happy now. Hope your desser can relax in Scotland (laugh).
Don’t worry tella and desser and awoniyi will be in this team after afcon
Ahahahah, yes you said so and I’m so happy to see Osimhen back in the team. I can’t wait to see Dessers, Tella, Awoniyi and Nwakali in the Super Eagles after Afcon. I’m watching Oga Paseiro very closely ooo lol. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Good News.
I’m happy to hear this.
Omo9ja, how market? Why did you agree to the agent of Desser. I tell you one thing for sure, Oga coach tried Desser many times and he could not meet the standard required to be one of the Nigeria super Eagle.
Market de yafuyafu my man @Edoman. You see, my old friend, Dessers will cement his spot after the Afcon, and I can tell you that Dessers should make the squad that will face Argentina.
Few players would be replaced in this current squad of the Super Eagles.
I don’t know Dessers nor his agent, but I know his capability. This is why I have been clamoring for his inclusion in the Super Eagles.
Can’t you see that the gaffer himself has realized that his team lacks creativity?
I read it somewhere where he said that his team lacks creativity, but who’s fault?
I said it before the Afcon kicks off that his team would miss two players in Dessers and Nwakali.
Had he took both players to Afcon, Super Eagles would have scored more than enough goals in this tournament. I think the gaffer has learned his lesson now and I hope he will make corrections against Argentina.
What did I say, hopefully he make corrections against Argentina.
So Edoman, please, don’t belittle one of the best strikers we have at the moment.
Mind you, oga Paseiro have to win this Afcon trophy for me/us to forgive him for not taking Nwakali and Dessers to Afcon.
Well, let me leave that for now. Today’s match is my focus. Nacho have to play. Fingers crossed. Good luck, Eagles. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
south Africa is in trouble
