Stanley Nwabali may still be available for selection for the quarter-final duel with Palancas Negras of Angola if he passes a late fitness test set for Wednesday.
According to team medics, the 27-year-old copped a mild ligament injury during the Round of 16 battle with the Indomitable Lions on Saturday, and the doctors have been working on him to see if he will come good in a late fitness test 48 hours before the cracker with the southern Africans.
“Fingers crossed. If all goes well, he might be available for selection.”
The Chippa United goal-tender has won the hearts of Nigerians with his self-assured posture between the sticks and his penchant for launching onslaughts with long kicks that have been unsettling the opposition at this tournament.

“… his penchant for launching onslaughts with long kicks…” This has been Nwabali’s major attribute at this tournament. Wishing him soonest recovery. If unavailable, we should just hope and believe others will perform. There is no option o…
Quick and the best of recovery bro
Na shina peter English be that in one of his albums in late 80,s , soonest recovery.
I totally disagree, he has many major qualities, which are ability to put his defender on their toes, calmness within the sticks even when you don’t expect a keeper to be calm now that I think about it, may be this could be his major quality. It has helped his all round performance bcos when you are calm you will know what to do in every situation. Like when to go for ball and when to stay, positioning and all that. Confidence make a footballer to be mentally alert and sensitive to situation around him and this are the qualities I see in nwabali.
Quick one, we should be ready to play against refree when we play against Angola bcos refree officiating when we play against Cameroon was not good at all. I don’t know what caf is up to.
I think NFF are only playing mind game with us and Angolan team.
The knee ligaments are the most important ligaments in the body.
The knee joint is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body and supports the whole body weight and it’s responsible for almost 50% of the total body movements, higher especially during sporting activities.
So risking him will only make his condition worse and may be counter-productive for Nigeria and his career.
I think we should just come to terms with Uzoho manning the post for our QF tie with Angola. Allow some healing process to take place before rushing him back
Oga Dr, were you told his injury is damage to knee ligament?
Did you read the story at all?
If an ordinary thigh muscle strain can keep Alhassan away from 2 matches, how much more a knee ligament strain?
Because you hear ligament, abi? Bros , the guy actually trained yesterday and completed the General goalkeeping drills.
I pray he recover quickly in Jesus Name.
Amen in Jesus name
Just watching Arsenal vs NF, Awoniyi back with a bang with NF. I guess they should have been patient to take him to AFCON for Iheanacho to also have been in the team without a single game. He was almost fit as well before AFCON. Iheanacho was a better lier, I guess, lol.
Lol. Ihenacho is not called “senior man” for nothing. But wait oh, why is NFF afraid of Uzoho lol
Deo, come and answer oh since Uzoho na your guy?
Where are our Banku eating brothers from the Banku nation of Ghana? They have gone into hiding….
Shame they couldn’t even make it out of it group phase.
