Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali says he will like to see the Super Eagles come up against South Africa in their next game at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Jose Peseiro’s men advanced to the semi-final of the competition on Friday after a 1-0 victory against the Palancas Negras of Angola.
The three-time champions will battle either Cape Verde or South Africa in the semi-finals.
Nwabali, who plays for South African club, Chippa United will prefer to face Hugo Broos’ men.

“Both Cape Verde and South Africa are good teams, but I want to play against South Africa,” Nwabali told reporters.
“I really wish to see how this my defence will fare against them.
“Yes most of their players know me and I also know them.”
Nwabali has conceded once in five outings at the AFCON 2023 finals.

wait for June to play them in WC Qualifier
Agreed but please let’s be more focused and humble because a lot frenemies are waiting to laugh at Nigeria, besides we are riding on a coach that blows hot and cold even when winning. Honest truth so let’s be humble until we win the trophy.
This guy is a serious player. And to be honest after Onyinye Ndidi gives up the Arm Band. Osimhen and Nwabali should be the candidates yes I said it Nwabali the way this guy controls the defence and team from the back is commendable yes one or two misplaced kicks and Throws but normal for a guy who is only on his 5 or so official caps. And it is No Cultural thing oo abeg I no won vex Lol.
I actually think this the correct order Musa, Ekong and Ndidi who the the captians. After Afcon it will mostly be Ekong and Ndidi Vice.
If Musa retired, the captain band will remain with Ekong,Omerou,Ndidi and Moses simons.
The best thing I read here is the way he refers to our back line (defence) as his defense
““I really wish to see how this my defense will fare against them.”
This is showing us that a camaraderie is already developing b-in the team and in this example between Nwabali the “Rock” and his defenders – Troost, Calvin, Semi and by extension Aina(back baller) and hopefully Yusuf/Sanusi(preferably Yusuf)
The team is growing in character and cohesiveness and Nwabali is playing no small part in that – A goalie confident enough to berate his defenders and other even midfielders when he sees them jonesing, pulling off reflex saves like the one early in the Angola game for such a big guy, coming for balls and control his box area and playing as a modern day “sweeper keeper” – I mean what more are you looking for? This one is not Calamity Franklin Uzoho level of dishi, no, this youth here is not falling anybody’s hand unlike our friendly neighbourhood basket Frank the bask lol
Oga Pajero is also growing with the team and even though I don’t like putting the cart before the horse – I would still stick my chest out at this stage and say that whatever happens from now on in, I am already very proud of this team.
So, let the boys rest a piece and be ready again because we go again!
Up the Super Eagles!
Oya let’s goo!
He’s outspoken I guess,he no fear anybody in that team, his first match, I noticed he shouted at Troost, against Angola same with iwobi. Lol
In fact the first person he shouted at was Osigoal himself – In the very first match – I observed it and then later they kind of got together and talked it out and Nwabali explained his actions to Osi and apologised and since then their friendship has improved and it is helping Osi as well as helping “the rock” and just filtering through the whole team – It can be seen well in the article picture – you can see Osimhen has accepted Nwabali “the rock” and the trust has increased between the two of them hence the rock is piggy backing Osigoal
Nwabali appears to be a leader and fearless unlike soft Maduka. Nwabali is a mentality monster.
YOU GOT YOUR WISH, ITS SOUTH AFRICAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. AND NIGERIA MIGHT NOT GO THROUGH WITH THE CAF PRESIDENT. BUT WILLIAMS IS A GREAT KEEPER. 4 SAVES
@ Justin, please tell me more about the CAF president?
The entire world is watching they have reached the end of their journey facing the SuperEagles. The Cape Verde coach was tactically naive. Why would you remove Mendes and Rodriguez?? Yes Williams is phenomenal but he will meet his Waterloo on Wednesday with the African Footballer of the Year bearing down on his net. It will be another fascinating encounter and the the SuperEagles will prevail.
Nigeria Super Eagles is winning against all odds. Mark this day.
@lollipops, i fear he is another Hayatou who would want to influence the game. I just pray Nigeria scores in open play. Well fingers crossed till Wednesday
@ Justin, I don’t really think the CAF president will do that. He has a reputation to protect unlike the Cameroonian who has no shame and reputation.
The Current CAF president is a big boy, so I don’t think he would want to burn his fingers because of crawl Fish.
SE will roast SA
@ Justin, the CAF president has work so hard in his life to build his big empire. He has a lot to lose if involved in match fixing or influencing officials. All his empire will go down the drains.
Also, the guy is an ambitious man and always looking at the big pictures. I will not be surprised if he run for the presidency in South Africa in the future.
@lollipop, ok o, hope he doesn’t do anything stupid
Correct score: Nigeria 2 – 0 South Africa. I just sold my wife’s kidney to stake this.
Lol…
