Ademola Lookman has attributed Nigeria’s victory against Cameroon to collective effort of the players.
The Super Eagles secured a place in the quarter-finals following a 2-0 victory against the Indomitable Lions at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium on Saturday night.
Lookman scored both goals for Jose Peseiro’s side in the keenly contested encounter.
The 26-year-old, who was named Man of the Match after the game said the players fought hard for the win.
“We are so happy to qualify for the quarter-finals. We have an objective before the start of the competition,” Lookman told a press conference.
“We have worked together as a team. Every player is ready to make a sacrifice for the team to succeed.
“The more we play together, the more fluid we become. I’m standing here now but this award reflects the whole team’s performance.”

Thanks for your brillant team oriented answer. I Love that, keep it up.
Looking like Lookman.
Well said, Ademola.
Well said!
Big shout out to goalie Nwabali.
Big shout out to the Nigeria defense, the mean, lean defense led by UNION TROOST, BIG, STRONG, RELIABLE.
Big shout out to Jose Peseiro and the entire team!
WE MOVE!
Lookman, Nigerians everywhere loves you and every one of you all. God will continue to be on our side.
Osimhen is supposed to be the man of the match. That man was everywhere. He was even tracking back to defend
I agree
Well spoken, Lookman. I have been waiting for this performance from you at the national team for a while, but you proved that today.
Although Osimhen that I thought would be given the match of the match but you also deserved it.
“Ademola Lookman has attributed Nigeria’s victory against Cameroon to collective effort of the players”
Yes, that is the spirit. That is the word. Please continue playing as a team.
At this point, it doesn’t matter who scores as long as Nigeria is winning. That is the main point. That is what Osimhen did in this match. The first good says a lot about Osimhen.
Nwabali……..ahhhhh……Nwabali….the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon discovered they have to send Nwabali out before they can score which they eventually did but to my surprise no yellow cards for the Cameroonian players but Super Eagles were collecting yellow cards wotowoto but to God be the glory.
Am so happy. Oga Paseiro should continue proving his worth until the end. This is getting interesting. I congratulate the gaffer. When you do good I will say it.
The gaffer and his boys should not underate Angola. Angola may be tough than Cameroon.
Good luck to our Super Eagles. Ire o. God bless Nigeria!!!
Lookman i was one of the people that said you were useless and non committed wearing Eagles Jersey but your performance has absolved you of any allegation . You have really stepped up your game and i hope players like Chukwu steps up his game and many more players.
Now Eagles are beginning to realize that playing against African opposition requires mental and physical strength . We really were aggressive against the most aggressive nation in Africa.
Peseiro has shut the mouth of his critics with this performance . He said last week that he deployed a formation that favors team winning tournament though they might not play good football. His formation was used by Morocco at the last World Cup . The most interesting thing about this formation is it will make Eagles perform well because we have good strikers who can run over any defense and transition is not a problem now. Peseiro might actually be an intelligent coach , i noticed when he came in the first thing he did was to add bite to eagles’s attack and swift transition from the back to the attack. Now at the tournament he has perfected the defense . This kind of pattern doesn’t really need good midfield as long ast the defense moves regularly to the midfield which our players have been doing.
We are all LOOKING and smiling. What a sterling performance against these energetic (plantain-eating) lions!
Ajayi Ekong Bassey and Onyeka are doing a very good job in interpreting how piseiro wants this team to play…They bring in their physicality and agression to snuff any danger before it builds up…..Onyeka break up play in the midfield is very important for the team…..The general energy levels and fitness of SE is way above every other team in this tournament.
Look me see bomb ademola baba Lookman. I celebrate the day you switched over to Nigeria because, I have always seen that you have it in you aplenty, that rare qualities for international football.
There are loads in your reserve yet to be unleashed. Never doubted you from day one. A Champion with a winning mentality.
One big advantage of this team, is, it is blessed with winners; Osimenegooooallls the beast, Nacho man, precision master, wazza dazzler chuzzy, Old warhorses Omeruo, the much maligned Ahmed Musa, etc.
Truly proud of you guys ; coaching crew and players. You guys are vindicating our trust and belief in you. A aaaaaaawwuuuuuraaaa. Victory is certain. Praise, thanks, Glory and Honours to OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST.
Coach Jose Peseiro is doing so excellent performance and organization style of football, that means he is using a strict defensive pattern of play which Super Eagles have been lacking for many years, he is using formation 3-4-3 as strict defensive style of play especially in midfield , so Super Eagles do not get into them many goals as they were geting into their goal in the past؛ the facet of the champion in any tournament has tow traits they are: he has excellent goalkeeper , then has excellent defensive midfield and back line; I think Nigeria , Senegal, Morocco thoes three teams have these traits which I mentioned above , so with this tally I guess the champion of this tournament will be from thoes three above mentioned teams; Senegal have strong forawrds and defence they had 8 goals scores, one get into them; Nigeria had tell 16 round 5 goals scores, one goal get into them ; Morocco had 5 goals scores, one goal get into them; so the final will be Senegal vs Nigeria or Senegal vs Morocco or Nigeria vs Morocco.I think Senegal vs Nigeria cause Senegal will meet Morocco in semi- final , cause Morocco will locate in Senegal track ….
