Ivory Coast have qualified for the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after overcoming DR Congo 1-0 in the semi-final on Wednesday.
The only goal of a cagey contest in Abidjan came in the 65th minute when Haller’s volley bounced down into the ground and up over Leopards goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi.

Recall that Ivory Coast had sacked Jean-Louis Gasset as boss before scraping through the group stage, and had needed late goals against both Senegal and Mali to progress to the last four.
But interim boss Emerse Fae now has a chance to guide the Elephants to a third continental title, adding to their triumphs in 1992 and 2015, when they face three-time winners Nigeria in Abidjan on Sunday.
The Super Eagles had reached the final earlier on Wednesday after beating South Africa 4-2 on penalties following a dramatic 1-1 draw in Bouake.

Futbal is a funny game and that is the reason many love it. The only game played exclusively with the legs. It is unpredictable. Take for example Ivory coast playing the finals. This is a team that was about to not qualify from the group stage. It’s possible they can pick the cup if Nigeria underrate them. As it stands, they are the team of the tournament. They sacked their coach thinking that they will not qualify. They went begging France to loan them their former coach. Far was fae was finally appointed and look at how he has put himself in history. Futbal is a little funny game.
Exactly as I called it even after the very first group stage game – the dull 1-nil victory
Don’t all rush in with congratulations just yet though – wait till after the final game..
The super super eagles

And Nigeria sack a coach that could not win nothing for us despite been head coach for almost 6yrs, yet some people won’t let us breath, EG cause us this with that 4-0, bcos Ivory Coast won’t have sack that old man.
We dnt need to always think everything old is the best, sometimes youngies sometimes knows what they are doing, bcos we got it wrong with eguavoen who replaced Rorh do not mean Rorh sacking wasn’t justified.
Happy for Ivory Coast though at least anything at the final would be commended by both set of nations fan as nobody could imagine this two west Africa giant to make it to the semi not to talk of final.
