Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze has warned the Super Eagles players that the AFCON 2023 quarter-final clash with Angola would not be a walk in the park.
The Eagles and Angola will meet for the first time at the AFCON come Friday, 2 February.
To reach this stage, the Jose Peseiro side defeated Cameroon 2-0 while Angola thrashed Namibia 3-0 in the round of 16.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s tie, Udeze explained why the Eagles would not find the game against Angola East.
“Angola is not a walkover because they have shown what they can do in this tournament,” the former left-back said on Brila FM.
“I have played against Angola in the past and whenever they play Nigeria they always put in everything.
“The Eagles should approach the game against Angola just like the way they did in the game with Cameroon.”

Let’s gooooo Eagles! Your fans are behind you.
If peseiro can still maintain the same diamond formation he adopted against cameroon then we should be able to dispatch Angola with whatever they throw at us. After the crashing-out of tournament favourites, Senegal and now Morocco then the Super eagles is worthy favourite to lift the trophy.
Yes Ojon you are right; so Peseiro must approach this match with excellent committment and dedication with focusing especially in defence, close tightly Angolan key player, dengerous forwards like Mabululu and Gelson; Peseiro should retard Osimhen as second forward in order to drag Angolan defenders، present Lookman as frist forward , Simon can play on the shadow of Lookman; Iwobi and Onyeka must press so strongly Angolan midfield and defence in order to committ errors then Super Eagles forwards can expliot these errors to score goals…
@Udeze good talk but I believe the players know this already, from our first match to the last, I’ve seen 100% concentration from the 1st second to the final whistle bar for the first and only goal we’ve conceded so far.
All the fav. Teams prior to the tournament are already back home, I’m saying this with full confidence without sounding proud that this year AFCON is coming to ABJ, this guys are putting in the effort and determined to bring the cup home.
