Equatorial Guinea will play Djibouti in a friendly game as part of preparations for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Guineans were initially scheduled to play the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in a friendly match but it was cancelled due to logistics reasons.
The game against Djibouti will be played in Malabo on January 9th, before they will head to Ivory Coast for the AFCON.
Recently, Equatorial Guinea announced their final 27-man squad for the competition with Nigerian defender Marvin Anieboh included.
This will be Equatorial Guinea’s fourth appearance at the AFCON after making their debut when they co-hosted with Gabon in 2012.

At the 2015 edition which they hosted they finished fourth which is their best performance ever at the tournament.
Meanwhile, they are drawn in Group A with Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
They will open their campaign on January 14 against the Eagles.
