Indomitable Lions of Cameroon striker Karl Toko Ekambi has described Nigeria’s Super Eagles a solid team.
A brace from Ademola Lookman sealed a 2-0 win for the Eagles against Cameroon in Abidjan on Saturday.
The Atalanta man opened the scoring in the 36th minute as he slotted home Victor Osimhen’s pass.
In the 90th minute, the forward then made it 2-0 thanks to a superb cross from Calvin Bassey.
It is a third straight win for the Eagles against Cameroon following wins at the 2004 and 2019 AFCONs.

In his post-match comments, Ekambi expressed sadness over the mistake that cost them the game.
“There was a team opposite that was solid. We made a mistake that cost us dearly because I think we were well in the match,” he was quoted on AllezLesLions X handle.
“We had the ball, we did good things, we managed to come out well. We weren’t dangerous but we had control.
“We made a mistake which cost us the first goal and in a knockout match, at 1-0, we know it’s complicated. We are disappointed, we will move on.”
The Eagles will now face Angola in the quarter-finals on Friday, 2nd January, 2024.

The first major surprise of this tournament will be Senegal losing to Coted’ivoire. This is noteworthy. Don’t say I didn’t tell you.
To me, it won’t even be that much of a surprise.
Look at what happened to Algeria, and how terribly they attempted defending their 2019 crown.
Nothing shocks me anymore; the Terranga Lions are a BEATABLE side, forget the hype!
My mind is telling me ivory coast will surprise Senegal by eliminating them. Everything is doable
Condolences to Cameroon and to their team – these are perfect examples of upstanding and respectable people – I have nothing but respect for the Indomitable Lions and to the Cameroonian people unlike some jealous undesirables who’s name I won’t even mention, because they do not deserve to be reckoned with in any way shape or form – the rotten morons know themselves well and the less said about them the better for all!
Keep your head up Toko Ekambi, Rigobert Song and all the Indomitables along with the people of Cameroon – you were very good on the day but just fell short this time – I have no doubt you will be back again and with a vengeance – It’s no coincidence that you guys are recognised of one of he giants of African football. Peace!
Meanwhile, we move on and next up is the very tricky affair against those Palancas Negras – There is zero love lost here and we must be ready and on our “A” game for this one!
Angola’s gotta fall! Oya let’s goo!
CIV will be highly motivated to beat Senegal. They want to appease their angry fans, after the embarrassing loss to EG. And they do have the home advantage.
Of course, it’s Senegal. A team that’s very hard to beat. But it’s not impossible.
Meanwhile, the Pharoahs have bowed out of the competition. Yes, Pharaohs can bow too, hehehe!
DRC move on to the quarter finals. Congrats to them.
