Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has called on football fans in Nigeria to rally behind the team.
Jose Peseiro’s men will begin their campaign at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations against the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
The Super Eagles lost 2-0 to Guinea in a pre-AFCON friendly on Monday and have also come under intense criticisms following their poor start to the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
Musa however believed the Super Eagles will put up a good showing at the AFCON and want the fans to rally behind the team.

“All I want to say is that we are ready, we are ready for the task ahead, though is not going to be easy because there so many favourites here ” Musa told a press conference on Saturday.
“Going out early at the last AFCON was really disappointing and we don’t want a repeat of that.
“We don’t have to talk too much in the media, we will do the talking on the pitch.
“Nigerians must believe in us, we won’t let them down.”

Hope springs eternal.
How can Nigerians believe in you when you guys have never won a single game convincingly against any major opponent apart from low division club side and lowly ranked African teams? Against both Mexico and Portugal the performance was shameful. It will be a miracle if the Suer Eagles make it out of the group. In fact, I see them struggling to score goals.
We must believe in you with no hesitation. Besides, SE is compacted, defense intact coupled with a fluidy and potent attack sprouting for victory. The whole team must rally around Victor Osimhen to give them the goals. Up up Eagles!!!
That’s true, go go S. Eagles, go Nigeria.
Mallam pls go and concentrate on ur wives leave the eagles alone. U ve made choice acquiring women is ur choice, give room for serious players, no offense just a brotherly advice.

Our believe is dwindling because SE lacks tactical hand in coaching unit.
God can crown the players’ effort with resilience approach to every game in AFCON
The wawulence from SE fans.
Talk is very cheap. Which game has this coach won for Nigeria? One thing most Nigerians will not forget easily, Our former Oga, who gave us Bronz in Egypt. Since he was fired at his pick, Nigeria football never ever be the same again. If you believe what they are telling you now, l too will tell you that l have a beautiful Bridge called ‘Ovia Bridge’ near Benin City for sell. Look folks, manage your expectation realistically so as not to get too disappointed when Nigeria is taken to the slather house at the group stage beginning tomorrow. Believe me.
