Angola edged a dogged Mauritanian side 3-2 in their Group D clash at the AFCON 2023 on Saturday.
The win saw the Palancas Negras move up to top spot on four points after drawing 1-1 against Algeria in their opening game.
For Mauritania, it is now back-to-back defeats following a 1-0 loss to Burkina Faso.
Gelson Dala gave Angola the lead in the 30th minute but Bouna Amar equalized on 43 minutes.

Dala got his second goal to put Angola 2-1 ahead five minutes into the second half.
Just three minutes later Gilberto got on the score sheet to make it 3-1 to Angola.
Aboubakary Koita reduced the deficit when he made it 3-2 on 58 minutes.
