Holders Senegal , Morocco and Egypt all exited the competition in the Round of 16.
“The competition has been a sexy one, it’s good for African football. All the teams that qualified for the last World Cup as well as the teams that make it to the last stage in Cameroon have been knocked out,” Amokachi said at an event in Abidjan on Wednesday.
“The number of goals scored in the group stage is also more than what was recorded in the last two editions. That’s an indication that football is growing in Africa.
“We just have to keep respecting the good job the coaches, the players and federations are doing.”

Like 205 goals scored already and we still have 8 more matches to go, yet they’ve recorded more goals than the last edition t
Of 201goals, African soccer have grown and it will soon beat the South American tournament.

I’m just happy that this improvement is coming at a time FIFA increased the number of teams to participate at the World Cup. If countries like Cape Verde and Guinea qualifies for the next World Cup, be expecting an upset from them.
People will soon realise the quality of football presently in Africa.
