Former Nigerian midfielder, Prince Ikpe Ekong has revealed that Sadiq Umar has the capability and experience to lead the Super Eagles attack in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ekong made this known in an interview with Brila FM, where he stated that Umar’s presence in the 18-yard box would cause more threat to any opponent.
Recall that the UD Almería forward was called up by Super Eagles interim coach, Austine Eguavoen as replacement for Victor Osimhen.
The former Olympic international’s consistency in front of goal over the years couldn’t have been on the blind side of the national team selectors and deservedly he’s in the team to take his incredible club form to the AFCON.
However, Ekong is optimistic the Nigerian international will grab his chance at the bi-annual tournament in Cameroon.
“We have Sadiq Umar who has gone through a lot of experiences through several loans, from Torino, Spezia, Partizan, Roman and then Spain.
“So you can see that he’s 24 years old now and he’s a better player. He’s tall and ver good on the air. He has speed and also knows how to position himself in the 18-yard box.”

Honestly am so much in love with this guy. His technical and most importantly physical attributes. He reminds me of the late big Rashidi Yekini.
With all these qualities listed it means we have perfect person to lead Nigeria attack.
Good luck boys.
