Nigeria’s Super Eagles will avoid the continent’s big guns in the qualifying series for the next Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2021) in Cameroon, having been placed in the pot of the top seeded teams for the draw by the Confederation of African Football, Completesports.com reports.
Gernot Rohr’s men are among the top seeded teams for the AFCON 2021 draw, along with Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Ghana, Congo Democratic Republic and Egypt.
Other top seeded countries include; Cote d’Ivoire, Algeria, Mali and Burkina Faso.
In Pot two are; Guinea, South Africa, Cape Verde, Uganda, Zambia, Benin, Gabon, Congo, Mauritania, Niger, Kenya and Libya.
Pot three has Madagascar, Zimbabwe, central Africa, Namibia, Sierra Leone, Mozambique, Guinea Bissau, Angola, Malawi, Togo, Sudan and Tanzania.
Pot 4 is made up of Burundi, Rwanda, Equatorial Guinea, Eswatini, Lesotho, Botswana, Comoros and Ethiopia.
In the last pool (pot 12) are; Liberia, Mauritius, Gambia, South Sudan, Chad, Sao Tome and Principe, Seychelles and Djibouti.
Four countries will be placed in each of the 12 groups, with the first two teams proceeding to the AFCON 2021 finals to be hosted by Cameroon.
The draw ceremony will take place on Thursday July 11 at the Aida Ballroom, Cairo Marriott Hotel, Zamalek.
