Former Nigeria international Ifeanyi Udeze says Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze is yet to hit form at the ongoing AFCON in Cameroon.
Chukwueze suffered a serious injury in last season’s Europa League semi-final second leg against Arsenal.
However, he recovered in time to be named in the Eagles’ 28-man squad for the AFCON.
In the first game against Egypt Chukwueze did not impress and had to be replaced in the second half.
He was on target on Saturday as the Eagles overcame Sudan 3-1 in their second Group D game.
The goal means Chukwueze, who scored in the 3rd minute, has so far registered the fastest goal in this year’s edition.
But before the start of the second half he was replaced by Alex Iwobi.
And Udeze has come out to explain why the Villarreal winger is yet to fully impress.
“Chukwueze is not yet in form, remember he was out with injury,” Udeze said on Brila FM.
“But by the time he gets back to form we will see the best of him, I just pray he hit form in time.”
The Eagles will be back in action on Wednesday against Guinea-Bissau, who need a win to stand a chance of qualify for the round of 16.

That is very true still our Best and Most talented Winger NO CAP!!!
Chukwueze has never fantastic. Too predictable, he is the reason we lost against Algeria in 2019. Even his goal against Sudan was simple. Anayo Iwuala is far better, even Junior Ajayi will do a better job. Chukwueze should be dropped without delay.
I wonder why you could post things like this like you have never watched him play.
Wow!
Just so weird!
@SD Special Delivery Jones Yeah True he is not Fantastic but Destroyed SA in last AFCON. He is not Fantastic But was the MVP in the Europa League Semi finals vs Arsenal Last Season… yeah bro he is not Fantastic. Clap for yourself you sabi ball LOL!!!
Also he is so not Fantastic but Liverpool and Klopp nearly paid 80 Million Euro’s for him prior to his unfortunate long term Injury he sustained Last season which he is might I add still working his way back from.
@Ugo Iwunze… I understand your sentiments but I have to admit Chukwueze is very predictable in his play. He is also disadvantagely very heavily left-footed… One legged player is so easy to take out of a game. He needs to trains himself and practice more with using his right foot… It will elevate his game.
Some of these people talking garbage,we haven’t heard their names in any sports events. But,they know it all.
It is not good to personalize Udeze’s statement. The man is only being objective and hasn’t said what majority don’t know anyways. Chukwueze is good but must up his game.
Chukueze is not inform and he is not inform, that’s football for you. In nigeria everybody is coach.
The guy is right, the winger is out of form, in ideal sense, him no suppose make this afcon list , am glad the coach remove him every match, I miss Samuel Kalu, the guy will dribble you any Day any time
