Guinea star Naby Keita has linked up with his Syli Stars teammates in Marrakech, Morocco for their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations camping program, Completesports.com reports.
The midfielder who copped a groin injury in his club, Liverpool’s Champions League clash against Barcelona in May however stated that he is not 100% fit yet, but will be ready for his country’s opening game against Madagascar on June 22.
“I’m not 100% fit yet. I started training with the ball in Liverpool. I’m going to train with the team to see. I think I’ll be ready for the first match against Madagascar,” Keita told reporters on his arrival in Marrakech.
The Syli Nationale are in Group B with three-time champions the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Madagascar and Burundi.
Paul Put’s men will be up against tournament debutants Madagascar in Ismaila on June 16.
Keita is expected to be fully fit when Guinea face Nigeria in their next game on June 26, before rounding off their group stage campaign four days later with a fixture against Burundi.
