Soccer fans in Egypt are eager to see the Pharaohs face the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the quarterfinals of the ongoing AFCON 2019, Completesports.com reports.
The AFCON 2019/hosts, who have won all three group games in the competition will take on the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their second round fixture at the Cairo International Stadium on Saturday.
The Super Eagles will also same day confront the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon in another AFCON 2019 Round of 16 encounter at the Alexandria Stadium.
Victory for both Pharaohs and Eagles will see them set up a mouthwatering last eight fixture on July 10 at the imposing Cairo International Stadium.
Completesports.com sampled the opinions of football fans on the streets of Cairo about the team they will want the Pharaohs to meet in the quarterfinals should they prevail over South Africa on Saturday, and majority of them are keen to see their team come up against the Super Eagles.
“Nigeria, Nigeria, Nigeria,” Emad Hassan, a security official at the Cairo International Airport replied Completesports.com emphatically.
“I like the Nigerian team. They have good players. Iwobi, Ndidi, Musa. .. It will be tough to beat them, but I want to see them live against our team,” said Hossam Abdulafiz, who is a taxi driver.
Another staunch Pharaohs supporter, Ahmed Mansour was strong in his desire to see the hosts come up against Super Eagles in the last eight fixures of AFCON 2019.
“I prefer Nigeria to Cameroon. Nigeria have good players but we will beat them. I also believe Nigeria play good football than Cameroon,” Ahmed stated.

Let Them See Off S/A First Before Anticipating To Clash With The Nigeria In Q’Final… Pride Goes Before A Fall! So, Since They’re Eagerly Waiting To Meet Nigeria, this waiting may turn against them…
When SE meet you, We will conquer you in Jesus name Amen
D better side will win, Jesus does not play partial
O. C. You ar rit. Neither God interested in answering any prayer to David one nation over another on any competitive sport. This winning come thru hard work, best team, or luck. Hence, God is not partial. He loves all nations equally.
We don’t have Victor Moses in this team. How are we going to beat Cameroon, they all know our weak point. Our coach is not tactically sound. Mikel has lost his form and his injured,We are all relying on Iwobi as our playmaker. Mr. Rohr will regret why he dropped Ajayi for Mikel. Our strikers Musa, Ighalo and Simon they are not good enough. Will Mr.Rohr swallow his pride and start Onyekuru, Chukwueze and Osimen? Everyone knows his best formation is 3 5 2. We are in serious trouble. Our midfield is our main weak point. I pray Iwobi, Etebo and Ndidi should understand themselves and perform well. If any of these three midfielders get injury or send off super eagles are in trouble.
Onyekuru and chukwueze will certainly do what Moses did if given the chance, the is will Rohr give them such chance to show case there talent ?…We surely need both players because of their dribbling skills to take on the Cameroonian defense .We must find a way to penetrate their defense and probably get penalty in doing so , let Rohr allow the attackers to express themselves and the goals will surely come .
Gbam.
They also dont have Vincent Abubakar .I think most super eagles supporters are putting unnecessary presure on the coach .Sample of previous records havent shown that super eagles have been doing better than what the coach has done so far in the preliminery stage .
2000 Afcon ,Nigeria won against Tunisia and drew with Congo Brazavile which was the lowest rank team in that edition. They again struggle in the quarter final against senegal was on the verge of elimination until Aghahowa equalized in the dying minutes.
Even during Nkeshi time Nigeria only qualified in the final match with 5 points after defeating Ethiopuia 2 Nil coutsey of two penalties .Nigeria generally struggle in the preliminaries.
Definitely, they will prefer Nigeria to Cameroon because it is easier to beat Nigeria than Cameroon that prevented them from lifting the cup 2years ago.
