Veteran striker Aritz Aduriz has signed a new 12-month contract extension with La Liga outfit Athletic Bilbao.
The 38-year-old, who rejoined the club from Valencia in 2012, has now made 390 appearances and scored 171 goals for the club over three separate spells at San Mames.
However, it appeared that Aduriz would be leaving Athletic when his current deal expires next month, only for the club to offer fresh terms which will take him beyond his 39th birthday in February.

Aduriz, who helped Athletic win the Supercopa de Espana against Barcelona in 2015, said on Twitter: “You can’t imagine how excited I am to wear this jersey and see more than 40,000 people encouraging the team. “There’s nothing like that illusion. It’s very difficult to say no to it.”
