AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli has explained why Samuel Chukwueze started the club’s Serie A clash with Juventus from the bench.
Chukwueze, who has impressed in recent outings for the Rossoneri was a surprise omission from the starting line-up against Maximiliano Allegri’s side.
The Nigeria international was named among the substitutes and only replaced Christian Pulisic seven minutes from time.

Pioli has been criticised for turning Chukwueze to a bench warmer.
The Italian however said he has often had to sacrifice the winger for a midfielder.
”I liked Pulisic (vs Juventus) instead. Chukwueze is also fine, but at the moment I won’t give up an extra midfielder to play with 4 attacking players and therefore Chukwuze is the one sacrificed the most at the moment,” Pioli told Milan News.
The 24-year-old has scored once in 22 league appearances for AC Milan this season.
