Former Chelsea technical chief Petr Cech has revealed that former Blues owner, Roman Abramovich should have given Frank Lampard more time to prove his worth at Stamford Bridge.
Recall that Lampard was sacked after a poor run of results that saw the club struggling in the Premier League table.
However, in a chat with Sky Sports, Cech insisted that he was behind the appointment of Lampard as manager.

“We had coaches that we had hoped to have for a long time. When Frank Lampard came back, we hoped that that was the moment when we would have had a manager for a long time…”
“When we were deciding who would be the manager after (Maurizio) Sarri’s departure, I was the one who pushed so hard for Frank to become manager. He had done well at Derby County. He was my favourite choice… I was hoping he would go to best possible way.
“We would have liked to have had Frank longer, but you have the board and the big boss (Roman Abramovich): when he wants to make a decision you have to expect it.”
