Former president , Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) , Amaju Pinnick has described Victor Osimhen’s rant against erstwhile Super Eagles head coach Finidi George “a moment of madness”.
Osimhen lashed out at Finidi for reportedly questioning his commitment to the Super Eagles.
The Napoli hitman pulled out of Super Eagles’ 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against South Africa and Benin Republic in June due to injury.
Pinnick said it was unfortunate Osimhen went that far to express his anger.
“Let me dwell on Osimhen’s case. It was quite unfortunate. That ranting was so unfortunate. I put a call through to Osimhen and I made him understand that I didn’t like what he did and he spoke to me with remorse. And I told him to channel his remorse to the appropriate quarters,” Pinnick said on Arise TV.
“Osimhen has always come to me, we discovered Osimhen. It was during my first tenure. In fact, that was the first trophy I won as the president of NFF when he led us to Chile and he was the highest goal scorer.
“I don’t know what went wrong. It was just a moment of madness so to speak. But, that is not the Osimhen that I know. Osimhen comes to me as a very humble boy, I don’t know others and we have maintained that relationship.
“Osimhen and other players should accord their coaches, their leaders some appreciable level of respect.”

Let us forget about this issue.. X NFF PRESIDENT ( picnick) has said it that moment of sadness i.e 5mint madness everybody have it in respectable of our field… Let us forgive him and move on… He has learn his mistake
This destroyer of Nigerian football needs to be beaten with a 2×4….Oloshi. I’m guessing Gusau is just a ceremonial head and Pinnick is still running the show. I have never seen a clueless fool like the NFF president we have now. You promote Bosso to under 23 when there will be no under 23 action for the next few years lol, should have put Bosso there instead of Salisu who invited a player who plays in the 5th regionalia in Spain for the Olympic qualifiers, to hire a national team coach has become an issue, they will most likely hire the coach a month before our next qualifiers and then expect magic……..Do these fools understand that a coach has to familiarize himself with the players, draw up a plan, check the opponents in the same group and so on. I’m almost done with Nigerian football…
I unfollowed u23 on sofascore when I saw the news. I am concentrating more on tennis ATM like De Lima also admitted because if football in your country is dead and Leagues are on break then you for follow tennis jare.
This issue between two brothers have come a long way and sincerely speaking, I thank all those who intervene and lets put the past behind us and move on with commitment and dedication.
