Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Nathan Tella is delighted with his maiden invitation to the Super Eagles.
Tella’s name was included in the 23-man list unveiled by head coach Jose Peseiro on Thursday night.
The 24-year-old was born in England to Nigerian parents and is eligible to represent both countries.
The versatile midfielder has however opted to play for the Super Eagles.

“It’s a great feeling and a great opportunity for me. As a young boy and a footballer, you dream of representing your own country – and now I finally have the opportunity to do so. I can’t wait and I’m really looking forward to it,” he told Bayer Leverkusen’s official website.
Tella will be looking to make his debut for the three-time African champions when they confront the Crocodiles of Lesotho and Warriors of Zimbabwe in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers next week.
The Super Eagles will entertain Lesotho at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo next Thursday.
They will travel to Zimbabwe three days later for a matchday two fixture.
